News archives More From Gypsy of the Year Daniel and Hugh Raise $1.5 Million for Charity Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman, stars of A Steady Rain, raised a record-breaking $1,549,952 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, it was announced at the 21st annual Gypsy of the Year competition at the Palace Theatre on Tuesday, December 8. In total, $4,630,695 -- also a new record -- was raised for the organization over the past six weeks. Charity Performance of 'A Steady Rain'
According to Variety, "A Steady Rain" added a single extra performance to its limited engagement. The additional performance is set for Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. Proceeds from the performance will go to local charities, including New Yorkers for Children and the Widows and Children's Fund of the New York City Patrolmen's Benevolent Association.
"Steady Rain" already commands top dollar, consistently logging the highest average paid admission on the Rialto. (Last week it was about $139 per ticket.) The last-minute opportunity to catch the show is poised to pull in even bigger bucks. According to Playbill.com, tickets for this charity performance are now available for purchase by calling (646) 257-2927. These tickets are priced $500 for Premium Orchestra seats and $250 for Preferred Orchestra and Front-Row Mezzanine seats, of which $140 per ticket is non-tax deductible.
