So long as they don't forget their marks/and or/lines then I say go for it. That phone user isn't just embarrassing themselves but their ruining the magic experience of live theatre and the empathy an actor is trying to send to an audience.

I don't think they can technically enforce the rule Laredo; but a friend of mine who does a lot of backstage tech. crews in NYC has said that some ushers do enfore the rule while others don't. I'm still just stoked that DC had the balls to tell that idiot to turn the phone off

I think your right Laredo; I also thought (and believe it's mentioned in the thread that I posted) that it's illegal to use cell phones during a theatre performance in NYC.
