I also don't like to see him more ripped but I guess nothing I can do to stop him. At least I have my Layer Cake DVD to drool over his old body.Anesidora wrote:I agree with those that think he looks way better with age but still prefer his body at Layer Cake level, not because he is in worst shape now that when he did Layer Cake but because in Casino Royale I found him too buff. And well if in Bond 22 he is going to be even more ripped ... I can understand there is a commercial interest to attract more men and women for his looks but I know I will not like him so much. I know I am in a minority here but that is what I think .

I feel exactly the same way, his CR physique was a bit of a turn off for me ... his LC physique was perfection ...magch wrote:I also don't like to see him more ripped but I guess nothing I can do to stop him. Being the consummate actor that he is, he will challenge himself and will do what he believes is right for the role and what he is comfortable with. After CR, I'm sure he is aware of what his body needs (if not I could always remind him ) as long as he doesn't do irrepairable damage to his lovely heart. I think Yoga is part of his personal regimen as well, so there is elongation and tone all over, not only his upper body....just stay off the steroids!
I admire actors who willingly go through such changes to get into character ie: Tom Hanks in Philadelphia and Castaway....drastic weight gain and loss....just to make it even more believable for us!

The question is :
Will our dear Daniel will play a new "Rambo" film, or will it will be a Bond film? Because if he becames more ripped for Bond 22...Well I must admit that I won't appreciate...Daniel is a so wonderful actor, he doesn't need to be ripped this way to make us believe he IS James Bond...

You can be more 'ripped' without adding extra bulk. He started out at around 160 and added 20 lbs of muscle which put him at or around 180. It's really not that big considering his height, especially when you see him in clothing, and remember the camera adds 10 pounds, so he probably looks a little bigger than he actually is in RL.
He was ripped in Tomb Raider and not excessively bulky, and to date that is the look I like best on him; I hope his body will be similar to that in Bond 22. He just needs to tone up more and add definition. We'll just have to wait and see.

I also like his Tomb Raider look the best but too bad I cannot watch that movie multiple times like Layer Cake. It seems to me that he has to lose some weight to get back to that body though. It looks like he is under 180 lbs in Tomb Raider. Even though his CR body is not my favorite, I have to admit that it does make him look more like Bond to me, or maybe it's just his acting?Misha wrote:You can be more 'ripped' without adding extra bulk. Camera doesn't put 10lbs anymore, or rather it never did its because our screens used to be rounded but now they're all flat so that all saying nowadays unfortunatly is utterly false
Sharmaine I get what you mean and its true that it's amazing for an actor to undergo such physical changes for a role and in whole I agree with you but for one exception...Bale in the Machinist no he couldnt have done it without but he did do major damage that will follow him the rest of his life.

"Evian is Naive spelled backwards."
I saw this movie not too long ago and barely recognized him - it was awful - he looked like he had starved himself and was down to bare bones sticking to his sternum. He wasn't acting anymore....he was too frail to even stand up, think straight or take a breath....very sad. He created the effect he wanted but at a great cost to himself.

Whether it does or doesn't, It's still a belief that Hollywood buys into, otherwise we wouldn't have actresses on screen who feel the need to starve themselves down to skin and bones; it all goes back to that dreaded fear of appearing bigger on cam - well that and trying to maintain the Hollywood "image". You hear stars(female stars in particular) talking all of time about how a fan was surprised to see how much smaller(weight wise) they were in RL, than on screen.frick35cr wrote:Camera doesn't put 10lbs anymore, or rather it never did its because our screens used to be rounded but now they're all flat so that all saying nowadays unfortunatly is utterly false
Anyway, I agree about Tomb Raider, not one of my favorite films. Although I like his look in that, I can't bring myself to watch it very often.
Daniel has the right physique for a rougher, edgier Bond and he really shouldn't change a thing. It makes his character more believable, and he really looks as though he could do some serious damage if someone were to get into a fight with him.
