Thanks ad - great, very informative interview
Q: You said that you thought about the first one eighteen months ago, before you finally said ‘I'm making this film’, so I thought this was quite a commitment to make?
Daniel Craig: Well, that's what's been said, it's not that it's not true, because I haven't signed up. What I've done is I've signed up on the next movie, after that we'll see. That's the way I'm doing it, and certainly it's not four more- that's the truth. It's certainly not four more.

That´s a bit of a bombshell news and just shows - one can´t believe a thing, unless you hear it from the man himself. This attitude is more like him, though.
Although I would have sworn, he has confirmed it in some of the recent interviews. ...and does that mean the whole money deal is in question, too?

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

I think there are a lot of speculations. Even if he did sign up for four more, things can still be changed in the future. Contracts can be modified and I am sure the producers will keep their options open based on future box office results. Daniel probably wants to keep his options open too.

Thanks Vicky for this nice interview! I like the part with the swear box :D
and the fact that he is so consistent by protecting his daughter (Although I'm still curious)

Wow!!! Some Voices were mentioned too!!! But damn Daniel didn't mention anything about Some Voices. A really good interview!!!! Thanks Vicky for putting it up!! I enjoyed it very much!!! A sequel to Some Voices would be nice!

But I am curious about his daughter, but I do understand why he protects her so much - she is a teenager, but she will be 16 next year, so she would be more older and will be taking more decisions, I heard somewhere she is an actress as well, so who knows? But he's really a good father I think.

BOND UPDATE: During interviews for "The Golden Compass" in London this past weekend, Daniel Craig was overheard chatting with a few reporters about the upcoming, much-anticipated "Bond 22" (it's yet to be officially named).
Asked why he has recently made such a long-term commitment to at least four more "007" films, after initially being hesitant to play James Bond, Craig quipped, "Well, the paycheck isn't too shabby." The actor reportedly will make a minimum of $70 million for the gig, a total that could soar to $100 million, based on potential box office figures.
Turning serious, Craig stressed it was his happiness with his first "Bond" script ("Casino Royale") and "the nature of the script conversations I've had since. Clearly, this will be a strong franchise for the foreseeable future."
As for "Bond 22," Craig confirmed it will jump off where "Casino Royale" ended, but more than that he wouldn't divulge.
:?:

If true, that he didn´t sign for four, it means EON is going to have to work in order to convince Dan to stay on. And by work I mean as in creating good scripts, not just a bigger paycheck. Good for us :D

I would think this new contract gives him an option to make five movies if he so wishes. I'm sure he can back out after two or three movies if he wants to. He would just have to renegotiate.

I like both of these scenarios. He got to be really careful with the Bond franchise. It could make an actor really rich but can do a lot of damage too. Bond actors ended up taking the blame for bad Bond movies even if the fault was with a bad script, bad director, or whatever. Whatever the contract terms are, I wish him all the best for the next 10 years as James Bond. I just hope he is careful so that he doesn't end up having similar experience as some of the other Bond actors. I don't want to see his talent get wasted.

To me 4 never made sense . Most sequals are done in threes . And though Bond is a long running franchise I think they would renegotiate after 3 movies if he was making money .

The Mirror bullies Daniel Craig about being private  :

Desperate Daniel Craig
29/11/2007

What's rattled Daniel Craig's cage? The Bond actor threw a tantrum when asked nicely about his personal life.

He told Capital's Johnny Vaughan: "You know people who talk about themselves all the time? I think it's quite frankly f****** boring.

"I don't like talking about my personal life... It's wrong to sort of discuss my private life in public because it affects many other people I care about. It has nothing to do with trying to get a better career."

Look, Danny boy, if you don't want to talk about your girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell, don't flounce up and down the red carpet with her (above). Loser.

Likewise - I would rather see him do a couple more really good Bond films and leave the series on a high, so he can carry on with the diversity of roles he's played up to now.

This is what annoys me about the tabloids... we have no idea from this story what question was put to Daniel (whether it was about Satsuki or his daughter or something else)... :x :x :x
