Stars in 'Free Suu Kyi' plea to Burma
Published: Today
CELEBS yesterday joined Prime Minister Gordon Brown in preparing messages of support for Burma's imprisoned opposition leader.
David Beckham, George Clooney and James Bond star Daniel Craig are all backing Aung San Suu Kyi.
The human rights and democracy campaigner has been held under house arrest for 13 of the past 19 years by the military junta that runs the country.
And she currently stands accused of breaking the terms of her confinement.
Famous faces have been asked to write 64-word messages of support to be delivered on her 64th birthday on June 19.
Website 64forSuu.org features messages, including one from Mr Brown.
In it, he says: "I add my voice to the growing chorus of those demanding your release."
Clooney, Beckham and Craig have signed a message from campaign group Not On Our Watch.

JENSEN ACKLES from TV show Supernatural has made fifth place in AfterElton's Hot 100 of 2009, a countdown of the most desirable male celebrities of television and movies.
Ackles, 31, is followed by Fantastic Four and Push actor Chris Evans at No6, Wolverine star Hugh Jackman at No8 and Spider-Man's James Franco at No10.
Twilight fans may not be happy to see Robert Pattinson at a lowly 40th position on the list, although fellow teen heart-throb Zac Efron is just outside the top 10 in 11th place. Jensen Ackles (pictured above) stars in Supernatural with Jared Padalecki (right) who comes 12th.
The countdown is topped by Neil Patrick Harris, with Torchwood star John Barrowman at No2 and fellow Torchwood actor Gareth David Lloyd at No14. Misha Collins, who is to become a series regular in Supernatural, sneaks in at No93.
Ryan Reynolds, who played sword-twirling Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is at No21, X-Men actor James Marsden, who played Cyclops, is 27th and Channing Tatum is 30th.
Heroes actor Milo Ventimiglia comes in at No31, while Zachary Quinto - who plays Sylar in Heroes and the young Spock in the new Star Trek film - is at No94. The Star Trek movie's new Captain Kirk, actor Chris Pine, is 75th in the countdown.
Batman and Terminator Salvation star Christian Bale is 56th on the list,
well below Bond actor Daniel Craig at No32, Smallville star Tom Welling at No35 and Doctor Who's David Tennant at No37.
