By the way he looks at us, I sometimes think he invented the term
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Well, I kinda liked the song... The Jack White sound is not bad and even Alicia sounds ok on this track. I'll buy the single when it comes out!

They had taken down the clip from the archivo007 site but you can hear it by following the ling (aqui) and listening the Sept 13 program, close to the end (58 and something min mark).

BBC Radio 1 plays `Another Way To Die` to mixed reviews
Quantum Of Solace - 18-09-08

Jack White and Alicia Keys' theme for the new James Bond movie has had its first airplay. Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley debuted Another Way To Die on her morning show. The track will feature in Quantum of Solace which is out on 31 October.

BBC claims that this was the world's first airplay of the new song are bogus however, as several stations in Europe have played the track earlier this week.

Click here to 'listen again' to the show online. The song appears just before 10am.

The song, which is the 22nd Bond theme, is driven by White's trademark fuzzy guitar riffs and thunderous drum rolls. The pair were announced to score the track in July despite Amy Winehouse being hotly tipped for the role.

The track sees the singer trading vocals with Keys over a horn section with White singing: "Another blinger with the slick trigger finger for Her Majesty."

Keys responds with: "Another one with the golden tongue poisoning your fantasy."

Fans had already heard part of the track after it was used by Coca Cola in an advert for Coke Zero, which has rebranded Coke Zero Zero 7 to tie in with the movie.

However, White's management distanced the singer from the advert.

The announcement that White and Alicia Keys were to do the Bond theme came out of the blue after it was confirmed Winehouse would not be recording a song.

Her producer Mark Ronson said the sessions for the track had been scrapped.

Jack White and Alicia Keys join a long list of stars who have recorded Bond themes in the past including Madonna, Shirley Bassey, Duran Duran and Paul McCartney.

Former Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell sang the song You Know My Name for the last 007 movie, 2006's Casino Royale.

Reaction to the track from fans has been mixed.

Writing on Newsbeat's Have Your Say debate, Mike from Brighton said: "This is in no way a decent Bond theme. It lacks that certain epic quality that a theme should have."

Others argued that Amy Winehouse would have been a better choice.

Sharky from Liverpool added: "She (Winehouse) has a voice to boom out the theme in the way Dame Shirley Bassey did with Goldfinger."

Others praised the song. Wes from Wolverhampton said: "On first listen it sounds good. It's more low-key and a bit dirtier sounding than the last Bond tune, which was a more in-your-face affair. If it reflects the plot then I'm sure we're in for a great film."

Noel Gallagher slams Bond theme choice
Quantum Of Solace - 18-09-08

Noel Gallagher has expressed his outrage that the theme tune for the latest James Bond film was written by an America - reports ContactMusic.

The Oasis musician said it was a "pisstake" that Jack White had written the theme for Quantum Of Solace, claiming that he has composed an alternative.

"It's a pisstake that the greatest British agent of all time has to be soundtracked by a bunch of f***ing Americans," he told NME.

"I've written a couple of theme tunes. They haven't got very Bond-esque titles, so I would have to tailor the title accordingly. The latest one that I wrote, I listened back to it thinking, ''F***ing hell, man! That'd make a f***ing great Bond theme'."

Alicia Keys interviewed about `Another Way To Die`
Quantum Of Solace - 20-09-08

Black Voices got a chance to interview Alicia Keys about her work on the new James Bond title song "Another Way To Die" for the upcoming film "Quantum of Solace" in Toronto.

What do you think of the film title?

Alicia Keys: Poetically, it's fantastic but I think when you actually try to break it down, it might be one of those things that you're not quite sure what it means. I have a vision where it's lost in time. 'Quantum of Solace' is a dope title but I have no idea what it means.

Did you write the song?

Alicia Keys: Yes, myself and Jack. But Jack really took the lead on that and it was kind of cool because I am a big fan of his music obviously and of The White Stripes, so it was cool to kind of walk in and put my flava on something he really vibed up. He's a big, big Bond fan. He's like, 'Do you remember this character from....' and I would stop him half way and say no.

What's the name of the song and have you seen the film?

Alicia Keys: It's called 'Another Way to Die.' And I did see the movie. I saw it four days ago. It's 'off the chain.'

You're used to creating a song based on your experience, so is it a challenge to base a song from a film, in which what James Bond is going through? Do you put yourself in a different frame of mind when doing this?

Alicia Keys: It is interesting. When you create a song for a movie, it's a different situation. In this one, with Jack taking the lead, it was cool because you get to see the movie for the song to come in. He was able to incorporate feelings into the song. It was an interesting process. For me, it was cool because I was able to come in and put my style in on something I hadn't really created. When I had done songs for films in the past, it is about capturing that moment. Sometimes, it's easier than others.

Does it work in the Monty Norman theme? Like McCarthy did years ago, he worked in the ten famous Bond notes.

Alicia Keys: Yes! It has the essence. You will definitely feel the essence. It's right in the beginning of the movie starts with this crazy car chase scene and it's bananas and once you reveal this reveal, it starts with the song and it's just perfect. Perfect.

The Name's Bond... Period.

'Quantum of Solace' to drop the famous introduction as well as 'shaken, not stirred' line

It be true.

We've been expecting you, Mr... er...? New Bond blockbuster drops the catchphrases

The new Bond blockbuster 'Quantum of Solace' drops the catchphrases to return to the spirit of Ian Fleming's books

By Nicholas Barber and Andrew Johnson
Sunday, 21 September 2008

His name is Bond, James Bond: just don't expect him to introduce himself. For the first time in his 22 screen outings, Britain's best- known secret agent will not utter the words of introduction that have thrilled fans and appalled master criminals for 46 years.

Nor in his next adventure, Quantum of Solace, released in November, does 007 utter the other classic one-liner – "shaken not stirred" – when ordering his martini, according to the director, Marc Forster.

"There was a 'Bond, James Bond' in the script," he said. "There are several places where we shot it as well, but it never worked as we hoped. I just felt we should cut it out, and Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson [the film's producers] agreed, and Daniel [Craig, who plays Bond] agreed, too. It's nice to be open-minded about the Bond formula. You can always go back to them later on."

It is another radical departure for Bond who, in his last film, Casino Royale, found himself stripped of many on-screen staples.

Gone were the unfeasible gadgets on which he could always rely in a tight spot. The boffin who created them in the basement of the MI6 building, Q, played in the past by Desmond Llewellyn and John Cleese, was also therefore eliminated, along with Miss Moneypenny and her flirtatious banter. Bond even briefly abandoned his high-performance motor to drive a Ford Mondeo before reverting to an Aston Martin.

It is all part of a deliberate attempt to bring the agent with a licence to kill into the 21st century – the producers declined the film rights to Sebastian Faulks's Bond homage, Devil May Care, last month because it was set in the 1960s – yet also to take him back to his 1950s roots.

The move is welcomed by fans who have seen the films veer away from how Bond's creator, Ian Fleming, originally envisaged his cold-blooded hero.

Graham Rye, who edits the online 007 Magazine said that Craig, who made his debut in last year's Casino Royale, is much closer to Fleming's vision.

"The Bond films had become tired and needed reinvigorating," he said. "Rather than going away from Fleming I think the producers have gone back to him."

Mr Rye added that the famous ingredients of the film, such as Q and Moneypenny, had only featured once or twice in the books. Nor does he make a habit of ordering martinis or introducing himself.

"His announcing of himself had become a bit corny," he added. "Casino Royale gets back to the spirit of the books, rather than all the silliness."

Ajay Chowdhury, who edits the Bond fan club magazine Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, added that excising the famous lines was unlikely to upset Bond fans.

"The producers have been mixing and matching the famous Bond tropes – such as the theme song and the gun-barrel sequence," he said. "But this time there is a theme song by Jack White and Alicia Keys. If this line of script is not in there it's not going to undo the foundations of Bond. The fans didn't miss Moneypenny or Q. Bond is the only British character with worldwide resonance now, apart from Harry Potter. The producers are paying more attention to psychology and relationships, as well as adventure.

"Quantum of Solace picks up from Casino Royale, which was a really good thriller first and a good Bond movie second."

A short report from someone over at James Bond.de, who is claiming to fly to London this / the last (not sure here) to met Mark Forster, Daniel and maybe Babs and Michael. He is known in the scene and its possible. Maybe D_C can say something about it, as he is a member of this board, I believe.

He says, the running time now is 15 minutes, which would be good, rather than 104 or such.

He doesn´t tell anything, because he says, he didn´t have the time yet but will and says, that he seen parts of the film and its owerwhelming.
