It's exciting reading all the news and getting all the great pics on here and in the media, but I'm a little worried that I will know exactly what to expect by the time October 31st rolls around. I want as much of the movie to be a surprise or as secret as possible. No more plot spoilers please Mr Newspaperman!!!

Lucky ladies - hope you get a good spot in the crowds!!

Would like to take the day off work on the 31st to go catch first screening here in Perth but that won't happen, so it'll be the first evening screening I can get into after work, possibly without my hubby so I can drool in peace!! 8)

Both me and Next Bond Girl are going to the red carpet premiere in Leicester Square but unfortunately neither of us were lucky enough to get tickets to the public premiere (after spending a solid hour trying to get through on the phone).

Hope you see you again. I think we are going to try and stand somewhere opposite the entrance to the Odeon doors but I have been told that it will be absolute craziness - ten times worse then TGC or FOAF so be prepared (especially if you have your children with you). I think it has been rated as a 12A.

Some musings on the lengths from CBN

Look what I found on Allocine. They say the movie is 118 min.
Date de sortie : 31 Octobre 2008
Réalisé par Marc Forster
Avec Daniel Craig, Mathieu Amalric, Olga Kurylenko
Film américain, britannique. Genre : Action, Espionnage
Durée : 1h 58min. Année de production : 2008
Distribué par Sony Pictures Releasing France

It says 110 minutes on the Cineworld page.

This is getting really confusing. 104, 105, 106, 108, 111 and now 118.

could the 106 min be without the titles and closing credits? in totoal it could be 118 min? could also be wishful thinking on my part ...

That's what I was thinking, but CR's titles were about 3 minutes and its closing credits were about 4 minutes, so 106 + 7 = 113, not 118. Maybe they mistook the "3" for an "8"?...

BTW; I was told by people working on the film about 2 months ago that it was 108 mins. It's that or 106 mins, that's for sure.

The film's official press book says that it'll be approximately 103 minutes (2,819 metres).
Guess that this is without the end credits, so we'll be somewhere between 107 and 110 minutes until "James Bond Will Return".
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

`Quantum of Solace` international one-sheet poster unveiled

Quantum Of Solace - 08-10-08

The international version of the "Quantum of Solace" one-sheet theatrical release poster has been unveiled.

It features the same design as the US theatrical poster, but with one key difference - the sky has been changed from a burning yellow to a cool blue hue.

Click over to CanMag to get a glimpse of the new poster, which in this instance is a variation for Russia.

As first reported on MI6, the final poster campaign was initially released via the CD cover artwork for the official soundtrack.

The poster campaign features images from the finale of the film, when 007 and Camille showdown with Dominic Greene and General Medrano at their Bolivian desert lair Perla De Las Dunas (seen burning in the background).

Bond girl Gemma Arterton was born with six fingers on each hand
Actor News - 08-10-08

Arterton, 22, still has small lumps on the side of her hands following the childhood procedures to have the extra digits removed, reports The Telegraph.

The fingers were "tied", causing them to fall off naturally.

"It's my little oddity that I'm really proud of," she told Esquire magazine. "It makes me different."

The actress, who plays Agent Fields in Quantum of Solace, James Bond's 22nd adventure, revealed earlier this year that she was also born with a "crumpled ear" that had to be corrected with surgery.

"I was born with lots of deformities," the Rada graduate said at the time..

Arterton, who has also starred in the St Trinian's film and had television roles in ITV1's Lost In Austen and as Tess in BBC1's Tess of the D'Urbervilles, has previously spoken of her nerves before filming James Bond sex scenes with Daniel Craig

"I had to do (the sex scene) on my first day of filming. I was thinking, 'Why? Why? Out of everything I have to do'," she said.

Just a nice bit from MI6 forum member
Just spoke to a film editor yesterday who has seen scenes from the new film. He said from what he had seen, it looks to be really dark, and reminded him of TDK because of it.

He's also seen the opening Aston Martin car chase too, which he said is absolutely awesome. The cars get proper trashed apparently, with the stunts looking as realistic as possible.

As you can imagine, I was pestering him as much as he could take after that for more info.....

DVD and Blu-Ray already scheduled for `Quantum of Solace` - March 2009
Quantum Of Solace - 09-10-08

As happened with the last 007 outing, "Casino Royale", news of the upcoming film's release on home video has already leaked weeks ahead of its world premiere.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment confirmed to a Spanish fansite that the (first) DVD and Blu-Ray release of the 22nd James Bond adventure "Quantum of Solace" is scheduled for March 2009.

The time frame is identical for Daniel Craig's first outing, although precise dates and release details are yet to be firmed up.

"Quantum of Solace" will open last in Japan on 24th January 2009, leaving a narrow window of just two months between its last premiere and its availability on disc.

Hi Dan fans :D

Sorry I've been gone a while as Dad hasn't been good and it's been really hard for me!! I have high blood pressure due to stress and on medication!!! Me thinks I need to get some of my Dan DVDs out, especially CR to cheer myself up and relax a lot more. Dad's Alzhemeir's is getting worse and he can be so difficult at times. It's not my Dad anymore. He's not ill enough yet to put in a home so it is hard for me as I have no other family support (1 sister, 3 brothers) and wouldn't have survived without my partner Paul :) (whom I met through ordered CR DVD off him at shop he worked at). Daniel brought us together!!! :D We will go to see QofS together!!!

What date is the official premiere in London? Is anyone going to it or to wait outside to get photos and autographs of Daniel. Wonder what Sats will wear? No doubt Dan will look gorgeous. I've seen trailers on TV news here and small interviews with gorgeous Daniel!!! Always gets my heart beating fast!!! Could shoot my BP very high, out of the Richter scale!!! Do I care - not one bit where Daniel is concerned!!!!

Can't wait for QofS to reach NZ as that will get me going and motivated and something to look forward to!!!! I must find the date of release here in Auckland!!!

I bet we are all excited, more than excited!!!!

Are there any love/romance/sex scenes in it? Can't wait for a glimpse of Dan's body either !!:D  I believe it starts with M and James questioning Mr White. Where do I find storyline on Forum so I am not ignorant of plot totally!!! Also ladies I shall read this topic as well. I haven't had time or energy to be on here but decided the weather being beautiful, spring, flowers blooming, blue sky that I would write. I miss you so much!!!

Any tips on regaining energy as I am exhausted and have had terrible headaches with the high BP??? :?:  I know Daniel would give me energy again and certainly any action with him e.g. kissing, hugging, etc would get rid of those bloody awful headaches I have at times.  I believe he is going to the premiere in Sydney - is that correct?

Must send this. I'll try and stay in touch. Still haven't done a photo avatar yet!!!

Love to you all
Sue xxxxkiwi gal

New digital video advertising to promote `Quantum of Solace` on Manhattan buses

Quantum Of Solace - 10-10-08

Passengers boarding the M23 bus along 23rd street in Manhattan are likely to get a jolt in the next several weeks as the likeness of James Bond star Daniel Craig seemingly comes to life and approaches them with an automatic weapon from the side of the bus. The digital video image, part of the first ever use of digital advertising displays mounted on the side of a major city transit system, is one of the executions being conceived by a creative team working to promote the upcoming release of the next Bond thriller "Quantum of Solace" on a new digital out-of-home advertising network being deployed by Titan Worldwide. So far, Titan has agreements to test the system on the pedestrian sides of buses in New York and Chicago, but the plan is to roll it out on buses, and other key transit hubs including commuter rail lines, in major U.S. cities, as well as in the U.K. and Ireland - reports Digital Outsider.

Other marketers planning to test the new bus-mounted 12-foot digital displays include Coca-Cola, and Sleepy's (a regional mattress retailer), as well as a variety of entertainment marketers.

"Imagine the witch from 'Wicked' -- the 'Wizard of Oz' show on Broadway -- on the side of a bus with her hair blowing in the wind," says Dave Etherington, global marketing director at Titan, who has begun working with clients and agencies to figure out how to create campaigns for the new digital bus billboards, which Titan has dubbed, "Bus Digital Kings."

The only limitation, says Etherington, is the client's and the agency's imagination, and what they think might be appropriate for their brand and in the best interest of consumers exposed to the new transit medium.

"It's probably not appropriate to run television commercials on the screen because this is not television," he says. But adding eye-catching, full-motion video elements to what would otherwise be viewed as a static outdoor billboard, he says, is the real opportunity.

And because the new bus displays are GPS enabled, they also have the ability to rotate copy based on geographic factors, such as the demographic composition of a neighborhood, or the contextual relevance of a zip code or shopping district. An ad on a New York Mass Transit Association bus, for example, might convert from English- to Spanish-language copy when it moves northward through East Harlem. Or copy could be adjusted to flag specific retailers when a bus traverses Chicago's Miracle Mile.

Other markets that will be keeping an eye on the New York and Chicago tests include Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle, Dallas, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and parts of New Jersey, which already carry Titan's static out-of-home advertising displays.

The Titan rollout is the latest in a rapid progression of new digital out-of-home media technologies that are accelerating the capabilities of advertisers and agencies in locations that seem to border on what only a few years ago might have seemed like science-fiction. In fact, the new Titan screens evoke an image taken right out of director Ridley Scott's 1982 adaptation of science fiction writer Philip K. Dick's "Blade Runner." The film depicted a futuristic Los Angeles in which full-motion video ads blare at consumers from big screens floating over the city. Other recent breakthroughs in technology and the cost of projection equipment can now literally beam virtual, personalized messages to a consumer in conceivably any location, à la the screen adaptation of Dick's "Minority Report."

"I think that the line between 'Minority Report,' and 'Blade Runner,' technically is here. We are not many miles away from what was envisaged in those great novels and movies, but the line in the sand for us, is our commitment to the transit authorities and to the people in the cities we are in, to add value and not actually step over that line," says Etherington.

‘There’s one sequence in which Bond prepares Camille to take a life that is so loaded with tension that it seems out of place in the action-heavy film. He talks about the listening to the adrenaline versus remembering your training, and it’s such a great speech that it reminds you we are dealing with the single greatest pure actor to ever play James Bond.’
