GANGSTERS ROB BOND CREW

10th February 2008
JAMES Bond has a new enemy – Panamanian gangsters who are terrifying the makers of his next film Quantum Of Solace.
007 bosses have started filming in Panama City for the Casino Royale follow-up starring Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton.
But an advance party of crew members were left shaken and stirred when they were robbed by locals.
The film-makers then asked a local gang for help, a move which only enraged a rival mob who themselves vowed to target the movie team.
So Bond chiefs also tried to make peace with the second gang – although muggings and theft of equipment has continued.
They have also put local police on the case, who have their very own licence to kill because they have vowed to shoot on sight anyone hassling film-makers.
Our source said: “They’re very worried that the cops will actually kill someone. It’s getting very tense.”
Panama officials are furious since they hoped the production would bring welcome publicity and an economic boost to the Central American country.
The location in Panama is doubling for Bolivia in the next edition of the long-running superspy series.
The Bond crew will film for a week at the Cultural Institute in Panama City’s Old Town, which has been kitted out to look like a hotel.
One scene will feature an assassin trying to kill Bond in the hotel lift, claim sources.
Film-makers also plan to shoot scenes in Panama’s northern province of Colón and then move to Italy to film a classic Bond car chase featuring 150mph supercars and massive explosions.

Thanks for the news Redluna but, for Chrissakes, don't make me worry about Danny!!! That kind of news makes me very nervous! :? I hope he's got bodyguards or someone who knows Panama that can look after him and take care of him. It sounds as though things are going to stay quite intense when they do that car chase in Italy soon...

Ok, nothing particularly new, it just says that

"the shooting of the film is taking place in Panama, and the director Marc Forster says the country has been chosen for all its beauties. The shooting will take place in Austria and Italy as well, and it is a sort of sequel to CR. In QoS DC will try to discover who Vesper was in reality. In the cast, there's again the Italian actor Giannini. The actor DC has not allowed any interviews. But his girlfriend and he attended a party with all the Bond cast."

All things we know very well ! ;)

He is well guarded. Look here

Craig arrived on Monday amid celebrations of carnival, local media reported Friday, and was protected by Panama's presidential security agents.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Or that the Panamanians pay his safety???? It was the last thing to that fails to listen! What a disaster!

Al Pacino is set to play a villain in the new Bond movie.

The legendary actor is believed to be making an appearance as the head of the terrorist group in the latest instalment of the British spy franchise 'Quantum of Solace'.

A source said: "Al Pacino has been approached about playing a Bond bad guy. It will be a brief but extremely important role. Movie bosses are hoping he will be the best Bond villain yet."

Pacino is expected to film his scenes at London's Pinewood Studios in April or May.

In the movie, starring Daniel Craig as the British super spy, Bond is hunting down the terrorists responsible for the death of his love Vesper Lynd.

Pacino, 67, will follow in the footsteps of stars including Christopher Walken, Christopher Lee and Robert Carlyle who have all portrayed a Bond nemesis.

Earlier this month, it was claimed Amy Winehouse was set to write and perform the theme tune for the hotly-anticipated film.

The movie - based on the books of author Ian Fleming - is to be released on November 7.

From everything I read in other boards, it´s not confirmed or anything - just one little article so far - taken over of course from all the others.

I am not sure though, that Pacino can play these days anything else but Pacino.

Time will tell..

Thanks sundance for putting it up though. This will steer the hype of the Bond shooting worldwide, which is a good thing - true or not, doesn´t matter.

I red this today and when I saw that, I started to scream. I was so exited. Al Pacino is one of my favourite actors and I'm sure that Daniel is very pleased to act with him. Two great actors together, I'm sure that Quantum of Solace is going to be a huge success!!!
Stop and stare
I think I'm moving but I go nowhere
But I've become what I can't be, oh
Stop and stare
You start to wonder why you're 'here' not there
And you'd give anything to get what's fair
Oh, can u see what I see

I read about the cross fire in Panama is it? Very dangerous. I wonder are they all ok? Why film at a place so violent? There are plenty of exotic locations. This is worrying. I hope they're fine. Who knows what gangs will do?
