Entertainment Tonight (video) and The Insider (video) visited the set of "Quantum of Solace" in Panama City. A derelict building has been converted in to a party venue with hundreds of lights and glamorous extras. The crumbling structure actually used to be the club house of former Panama dictator General Manual Noriega. Craig explained, "I'm sure there are some bad ghosts in here, but it was where he partied and we're using it as a location for a fund raising event".
Filming took place over four very long night-shoots, with action taking place up until 4am. Over 700 local extras were cast and dressed as glamorous party guests. The night-time party scene, where Dominic Greene is hosting a fund raising event, takes place about half-way through the movie. The climax of the confrontation between Bond, Greene, Fields and Camille takes place at the top of a stone staircase. One of the foursome ends up taking a long tumble down the steps. "In the Bond scheme of things, it's not such a big stunt, but that doesn't mean the guy who's going to do it isn't going to get hurt", Craig said.
Tom Ford has designed all of Daniel Craig's suits for the film. Craig talked about the fate of some of the costumes made specially for the film. "One of the things for me was that he wears great suit, but I wreck about 30 or 40 of them through filming. It's really a crime - it makes me weep every time! I take a suit home sometimes."
ET confirmed that the production looked at over 7,000 actresses and models for the two Bond girl roles. When Craig was asked about his involvement in the process, he said "I'm involved all the way all the way through - or they pretend to involve me. I mean, they ask my opinion and I have my say." .........

I think the first trailer will be in July. I went to the Sony Pictures site and I saw the new Will Smith's film Hancock will open in 2 July. Made of Honor is too early - 2 May. I think Quantum of Solace and Hancock are made to the same type of people. But I'm not studio boss.

Daniel Craig suffers minor injury on `Quantum of Solace` set

Media outlets in Panama have learned that Daniel Craig was slightly hurt during some action scenes filmed in the country.

According to local press, Craig was taken to Punta Pacifica Hospital for a preventative review as in one of his scenes he apparently fell and hit his ribs.

Fortunately, it was just a scare, as they did not find any considerable injuries. 007 was left shaken but not stirred.

Production of teh 22nd James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" has since moved to the city of Columbus.

'Quantum of Solace' Production Moves To Chile

Craig, Kurylenko and Amalric to arrive in mid-March; filming in the Atacama Desert

From Diario Noticiascadadia:

Daniel Craig will arrive in Chile during the second half of March to film scenes for the upcoming movie 'Quantum of Solace' in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile

The actors will be filming for twelve days in different locations in the northern Chilean region of Antofagasta and the desert, more than 1,300 miles from Santiago.

According to production sources cited yesterday by the newspaper La Tercera, Craig will arrive in the country alongside the model Ukrainian Olga Kurylenko (the new "Bond girl" in the role of Camille) and the French actor Mathieu Amalric (Dominic Greene).

Sources indicated that although British producers have been scouting sites for the new Bond movie since last September, filming will begin March 23 and will involve 210 foreign professionals and another 105 Chileans.

Although the locations where the film will be shot have not been specified, we know that the scenes in Chile will have "a lot of action", including the landing of a plane in the middle of the desert, a source described.

The recording of scenes began last August in Italy and Madrid, and three months later in the Pinewood Studies, in London.

The filming of the twenty-second James Bond movie, will also have scenes in Panama City and in Cuzco, Peru, to be completed by the middle of this year in Austria.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

New James Bond film opening sequence is longest ever

The opening sequence of the new Bond movie will be the longest yet, stretching to 30 minutes before the credits appear.
Daniel Craig has spent three months filming a chase scene in Panama for Quantum Of Solace.
A Bond insider said: "It will be full-on action from the first second. Craig leaps from a Harrier jump jet into a speedboat and ends up in his Aston Martin. There is also a fight between helicopters.
"It is the big set-piece to rival the chase when Craig was up on the top of the crane in the last Bond movie."
Until now the longest pre-credit sequence of a Bond movie was 14 minutes in 1999's The World Is Not Enough.
Production of the movie, named after a short story by James Bond creator Ian Fleming, will now move to Chile.

This should be taken with a large grain of salt - its the Mirror, who doesn´t even have the shooting time in Panama right - 3 months :? They have only be shooting 2 months and 1 week altogether.

..and it doesn´t make any sense to start the credits after a quarter of the film is over

This is a good synopsis of the film I feel. So SPOILER ALERT!!!

”QUANTUM OF SOLACE continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in CASINO ROYALE. Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal.
Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr. White (Jesper Christensen), who reveals the organization which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined. Forensic intelligence links an MI6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta.
Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organization. On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world’s most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organization, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.
In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene’s sinister plan and stop his organizati
