I guess our speculation that since it was henna colored it was a temporary henna tattoo, is wrong. It's actually real.
Crazy!

There's a press conference happening today, does anybody know any more details on this at all? Is it for the world's media, or just the local press? Is this something similar to the Bahamas press junket?

In the article above of La Tercera is mentioned there will be a press conference on 26th March in Observatorio Paranal of Marc Foster and the Spanish speaking actors of the film with the Chilean press. But Daniel will only attend a press conference that will be held on Friday at the same spot with the international press.

The general tone of the article is not very friendly, I have to say.

It says that Daniel arrived at 9 pm in the Antofagasta airport Cerro Moreno from Guayaquil with a beanie hat and a frown. He didn't wont to get down of the private jet until the airport operators waiting with cameras were evacuated. He refused to comment and didn't wave. Only a quick inmigration process that was made on the jet, something very unusual and reserved to high profile visitors. It is also mentioned that he changed his clothes three times at the terminal and that 10 people travelled in the same jet, including his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell and producer Barbara Brocoli.

His visit was initially planned for Monday but delayed in the last minute because Daniel decided to expend one additional day of vacation with his girlfriend in the Galapagos Islands. The delay bothered the movie team. The filming had to start without Daniel and Kevin Tod Haug had to shoot the first scenes and add later the main actor. The 25th was the first day of work in Chile with director Marc Foster visiting the locations. The schedule had to be fixed due to Daniel delay. The article says that a meeting with Chile president Michelle Bachelet (that also arrived on Monday in Antofagasta) and was planned on Tuesday couldn't be held due to "agenda problems of both parties", as pointed out by a member of the production team.

Not friendly indeed - but changing clothes three times at an airport? Sounds a bit far off, but who knows?

He sounds a bit prima donna here and I must say, why not grant the locals a few shots and its not responsible to mess around with the schedule..

..but then...

what do we know? He could be so annoyed by all the hazzle peoples cameras and reporters have given him (didn´t he have to change hotel in panama 5 times because of local reporters?) by now, that he just refuses to take any more.

We don´t know, it was his demand to do the quick immigration process - could have been Barbara or Michael Wilson.

...and we don´t know, if it was him to just take one more day off - maybe Barbara and the team granted it - like Go for it, you deserve it and we handle the rest (due to good work or to a need of a bit more relaxing time), even though it was going to mess up their schedule.

I would consider him as being far too much of a professional, to give the prima donna to the extend, that it will cause problems for others.
So in my book, the facts may be true, but we don´t know the cause of it.

From FOAF. that ad posted:
"The story is very simple. Joe has driven himself right into a corner, and I kind of relate to that. I can understand wanting to hide away from everything, because people seem to be staring. It does get you down a bit.
I guess, too much of that then at the moment...

Anyway here is the schedule for the enxt weeks:

Bond crew expected to arrive for filming on 31 March

WARNING: Possible spoilers

Following up CommanderBond.net’s overview of the Siena, Italy filming sequence for Quantum of Solace, more details have been revealed in local newspapers about what James Bond fans can expect.

A recent press conference held by line producer Guido Cerasuolo of Mestiere Cinema, the Venitian production firm that previously worked on Casino Royale revealed several key dates for the forthcoming filming.

The 007 crew is expected to arrive in Siena on 31 March, with the rooftops chase commenceing on 4 April and lasting until the 12th. Then, as earlier pointed out in this CBn article, they head off to Lago di Garda, the largest and deepest lake in Italy, for a further two weeks of filming.

Two weeks in the Tuscan city of Carrara at the beginning of May will follow and then the Bond crew heads back to Siena to film at the Piazza del Campo from 13 to 17 May.

Additionally, a separate Quantum of Solace unit will be filming in Talamone at the end of April.

According to Cerasuolo, the Italian sequence will roughly last a total of 15-20 minutes on screen, with the seven to eight minutes in Siena ‘among the most spectacular.’

Speaking specifically about the major chase sequence, Cerasuolo also added that the Bond production has renounced an initial idea of concluding the sequence in the Duomo di Siena cathedral because they deemed the scene would be disrespectful of the sacred monument.

As an alternative, Daniel Craig’s Bond will instead ‘pop out’ of the bottini (a tangled network of underground tunnels) at the fountain of Piazza del Campo right at the moment the Palio di Siena horse race ends.

The estimated budget of the sequence in Siena is about € 500,000 - 600,000 (roughly $870,000 / £430,000). 2,000 local extras, as chosen by the Scoutit agency in Firenze, will be used for the sequence (1,000 of those will be situated at the Piazza del Campo for the Palio race).

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

I don´t think so - just 2 weeks or so ago, Anatol Taubman said in his interview - that Daniel has zero attitude - not possible to become a diva in 2 weeks. Maybe read my thoughts in my post and see if that seems possible for you.

I agree with you, GG...what do we know?

When I read this article I immediately thought, poor Daniel. Because everything else we know about him seems to point to him NOT being the prima donna type, so I think maybe something else was not well in his world. In the picture to me I was struck at once with the impression that he appeared a little haggard to me, and tired. He may have been sick, or injured, we don't really know the story behind why he had to take an extra day of vacation, and why he didn't feel up to facing the press this night. It was 9 PM at night anyway and for all we know anything on earth could have been wrong with Daniel besides just being a "prima donna."
