From April 14 to 24, several towns on Lake Garda (Gargnano, Tremosine, Limone sul Garda, Torbole, and Malcesine) will be the film sets for the 22nd James Bond movie, “Quantum of Solace”, directed by Marc Forster (who also directed the famous “The Kite Runner”) and Dan Bradley (director of the action scenes of “Spiderman” and the new “Indian Jones”).
In the breathtaking scenes, James Bond’s famous Aston Martin will be involved in high-speed car chases and spectacular crashes on the Gardesana Road and along the Tremosine gorge.
From April 18 to 20, the first James Bond weekend will take place in the film locations: it will be an authentic journey in the world created by Ian Fleming. Consorzio Riviera dei Limoni, in cooperation with EConsorzio Veneto Lago di Garda ’ and Ingarda Trentino, will promote several cultural events and food and wine gatherings for authorities, journalists, fans, and tourists. The event is called “Il Cerchio Giallo” [The Yellow Circle].
Texan novelist Raymond Benson, who continues the work of Ian Fleming, will be the guest star and will meet 007 fans on several occasions.
There will also be exhibits, a conference dedicated to Garda as a “film set”, and a food and wine show with Bond menus served in various places along the lake, from Gargnano to Malcesine.
An exhibit on the legendary James Bond will open at the Tourism Museum of Limone sul Garda on April 18 and will be open for the entire period that the movie is being filmed.
The exhibit will pay homage to James Bond and his creator through film posters, rare book editions, comic strips, caricatures, merchandising objects, gadgets, toys and other rare collectibles.
The first Italian editions of Fleming’s books, original illustrations by Carlo Jacono for the cover of the Bond adventures published by ‘Segretissimo”, set photos, model cars, dolls portraying Connery and other 007’s will also be on display.
A major section of the exhibit will present over 30 cartoons and caricatures of the actors who played Bond, which are on loan from the Comic Exhibit of Amadora, Portugal. The Tourism Museum will also have an info point providing all the latest updates on the filming.

Students help on James Bond set
E.R. students treated injuries on set in Chile
"Not many doctoral residents can add "James Bond movie" to their résumés.
This spring, residents in GW's School of Medicine and Health Science's emergency medicine program worked as physicians for the cast and crew of the new James Bond movie "Quantum of Solace." Residents rotated doing one-week stints for six weeks during filming in Chile and Panama.
"During the stunts people broke legs and arms," said Christopher Lang, an emergency medicine professor who oversaw the residents who worked in Chile. "There was dehydration and skin infection. If someone needed further attention, we made sure that the hospitals had the appropriate standard of care and communicated with the doctors."
Lang said movie sets are normally staffed by nurses, but in this case medical students were called in to act as backups. GW professor Raymond Lucas oversaw the medical care in Panama.
"Quantum of Solace," which is set for release in November, is a sequel to 2006's "Casino Royale." In the movie, Bond meets a businessman who plans to overthrow a Latin American country's regime government to acquire land that contains valuable natural resources.
The longstanding D.C. adage that personal connections will bring unique opportunities held true for even the medical community.
Dr. James D'Orta, chairman and chief executive officer of Consumer Health Services and an adjunct professor of emergency medicine, spent part of his residency at GW. He is also cousin to Barbara Broccoli, the daughter of Bond producer Albert Broccoli. Barbara Broccoli is now the CEO of EON Productions, which owns the Bond franchise."

GOODBYE, JAMES BOND
Daniel Craig, also know by moviegoers as James Bond, left Chile Friday morning after nine days of filming in Chile’s Region II.
Craig and his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell plan to take a short vacation in Buenos Aires before he must head to Northern Italy for further work on for the twenty-second film in the Bond Series, Quantum Solace.
The cast and crew of the new Bond movie were shooting in and around the city of Antofagasta. Still, the film will not portray these locales as Chilean; instead, for the sake of the movie’s plot, they will be Bolivian, an idea which caused quite an uproar among local citizens.
Carlos Lopez, the mayor of the Region II city Sierra Gorda, briefly interrupted the filming when he drove his car through the movie set. Lopez was upset about traffic interruptions caused by the filming, the strong police presence, and was also deeply disturbed about having the location described as Bolivia.
Quantum Solace is set to hit theatres at the beginning of next year.
