James Bond vs Paris Hilton at a theatre near you, November 7th

James Bond and Paris Hilton will face-off at the US box-office later this year as the 22nd film in the 007 series "Quantum of Solace" goes up against "Repo! The Genetic Opera" on November 7th.

The oft-delayed musical will open against 007 according to reports from LionsGate Films.

The competition should be no match for 007, though. Back in 1997, the second Pierce Brosnan movie "Tomorrow Never Dies" went up against "Titanic" (the biggest ever movie at the global box office), and unlike the titular boat, Bond didn't sink and scooped $333m.

In 2006, Daniel Craig's first outing as 007 in "Casino Royale" was released against "Happy Feat" in the USA, where the animated penguins beat Bond at the domestic box-office. But 007 was ultimately victorious at the worldwide box-office, taking $594m.

Bond's main competition this year will come from the sequel to animated hit "Madagascar" from DreamWorks. The 2005 original took $532m worldwide, $193m of which was from the US - more than "Casino Royale" took a year later.

"Repo! The Genetic Opera" Synopsis:
Set in the future year of 2056 when the selling of organ transplants becomes ordinary due to organ failure epidemic, "Repo!" focused its story on GeneCo, a biotech company that offers the transplants with a catch. If the receivers of the transplants cannot or miss their payments, the company will send Repo Men to recollect the organs. The movie stars Paul Sorvino, Alexa Vega, Paris Hilton, Anthony Stewart Head, Bill Moseley and Sarah Brightman.

This makes me laugh
...I did see the 'Quantum of Solace' preview with 'Hancock'. My friend had to spritz me with water to keep me from melting into a puddle of goo but dang, that was hotter than freaking hell on the big screen. Between now and November is going to be torture for me when I think about Bond (though if I think about Daniel Craig with no clothes on...)

Bond News - 08-07-08
British band `Scouting For Girls` to release 007 tribute track in November

British pop rockers Scouting For Girls have topped the UK charts with their debut album and performed in front of crowds of 50,000 at festivals.

The band is renowned for the huge level of crowd participation in its show, with local fans eagerly chiming in for singalongs.

Scouting For Girls are reportedly trying to convince the powers-that-be to include their musical tribute to James Bond on the soundtrack of the new Daniel Craig film, Quantum Of Solace.

"We're releasing it as a single to coincide with the movie coming out completely to cash in," said frontman Roy Stride.

Their song "James Bond" is the last track on their self-titled debut album.

There may be more than a glimmer of hope for the band, as they are signed under Sony's music label.
Cause you affect me ...

Forgive me if I'm being a bit previous but I need to ask you guys something in relation to QOS... We're ALL gagging to see it right???!!!! Well, I've now successfully booked a 'QOS Vacation' from work - the whole week leading up to October 31st which I hope will allow me to attend the premiere AND see the movie on the day it opens!! :D My question is, HOW SOON will tickets for the movie go on sale? :? I doubt if that will happen just yet. Thing is, I imagine they will sell out fast and I want to make sure I get a decent seat to at least two showings. Does anyone know how quickly this might happen? Perhaps I'll have to wait until the beginning of October... I've registered with Odeon.Co.Uk just in case that helps!

I don't know how it works in the UK but here in Germany cinemas send two or three weeks before the movie starts online-promotion and you can order seats

Scouting For Girls plan to return to Australia for a national tour in November. Hopefully by then they will have convinced the Hollywood powers-that-be to include their musical tribute to James Bond on the soundtrack of the new Daniel Craig film, Quantum Of Solace.

This sounds sweet, I think - new DC film NOT new JB film. Cool 8)
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..
