I only really read it today. WOW, but yeah, I can see him sitting there and being in the mood to behave like that and with the beer inside him
I can also see the part about being insecure, have fears of being not up to it, whatever it might be. In early days someone described him as someone who is slightly damaged inside, which maked him more vulnerable. I think, that's true. He is very sensitive, but tries to hide it and I suppose, he often found reason to loose trust in himself. This makes it even more astonishing, that he can exude so much confidence- but then, its Daniel, our two sided chameleon.
Also I didn't know about the gay couple he lived with, when he was 18. I remember, he said, he lost friend to AIDS. Maybe it was them, which would be very sad. But this explains his many gay friends..

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..
