Let the speculations begin  .

Sarah Harding - Villainous Bond Girl

Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding - who currently stars in new film 'St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold' - has revealed her next acting ambition is to star in a James Bond film.

Sarah Harding wants to be in a James Bond movie.

The Girls Aloud singer - who recently starred as a schoolgirl alongside Rupert Everett and David Tennant in the movie 'St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold' - dreams of playing a villain in the next movie about the iconic British spy, currently played by Daniel Craig.

She said: "I need to work on my skills, that's the priority. I'd love to do some action stuff. I'd be good as the kind of character that Grace Jones played in 'A View to a Kill' - a bad Bond girl! I don't see myself doing the glamour stuff. I'm kind of edgier."

The 28-year-old singer-turned-actress - who has been able to pursue an acting career because Girls Aloud are currently on hiatus - also revealed she is very proud of her bandmate Cheryl Cole's solo pop success.

She added: "We're all really supportive of each other. I'm proud of her. "We all took this break and you don't do that without having an action plan. And that's what Cheryl's plan was."

@Dunda
We didn´t see her in the movie, but in the music video.... :?

Everything in Bond´s movies is about attitude, and looks, you just can´t put her singing a song if she doesn´t have those things, she has a great voice, but she didn´t fit in.

"Das Auge isst schließlich mit..."
So true D_C! It would be an indignity for Bond. She has a good voice, but there are better ones IMO.

Sinner with a soft centre

With his CV, surely playing a Bond villain, opposite his friend Daniel Craig, godfather to one of his sons, is in the offing?
“I’d love that. I don’t know whether you could have Tosker and Geordie in the same movie, though.”

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Ooh - I'd vote for Mark as a Bond villain - I think it would be a good combination  . And I love the bit where he says he doesn't want to rescue puppies! For us DtD devotees, that has to be funny :D

...Stamps feet a little petulantly...

No, no, no!!! NOT Susan Boyle doing Bond Theme and NOT Sarah Harding playing Bond villain!!! IMO, any Bond movie needs to offer its audience a certain amount of class and neither have too much of that. There's no doubt that Su-Bo has a very strong voice but can you imagine the video??? Maybe they can replace images of the singer with that of Daniel Craig instead??? And Sarah Harding has a very limited amount of experience as an actress. And she's blonde. Speaking as a blonde, I am always wishing that they would have a prominent role for a good Bond girl with blonde hair - they always seem to be brunettes, those who get to shag JB. (There was that actress Shirley Whatshername who got covered in goldpaint in Goldfinger but she was only in the movie about 10 minutes!!)...

I know it's Christmas and I should be a little more forgiving but I think we all have specific ideas about how Bond 23 should be made...

I would love to hear Susan Boyle sings the Bond theme. She has a magnificent voice. She's not pretty but who cares! She could sing it with class and it would be a nice change from the previous them ( very bad choice IMO)

Whatever the outcome and I don´t think, she will be seriously considered, but she has something in common with DC - she was an underdog, got ridiculed for her looks - but she surprised people and stood her ground - just like the man who has a good chance to become peoples choice of the best Bond ever.

Maybe its just because I am old, but neither Casino Royal or QOS themes stick in my head. I instantly recognize all of the other bond themes and can sing along. I would love a "catchy" theme for Bond 23.

MGM - `We will not sell to just anybody'

Bond News - 23-12-09

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., the storied Hollywood studio, burdened by a crippling debt load of nearly $4 billion, put itself up for sale last month. But MGM is deliberately slowing the process, according to people familiar with the matter, by restricting potential bidders to a small pool of serious buyers - reports the Wall Street Journal.

In hopes of soliciting a serious offer before widening the circle, the company is forcing interested parties to sign highly restrictive non-disclosure agreements that include non-compete clauses as well as rules that disqualify companies that need a financial partner to make a play for the studio.

Limiting who can look at the company’s books offers some practical advantages for MGM: competitors won’t be able to get an inside peek at the company’s operations.

While non-disclosure agreements were sent out to roughly two dozen parties, only a handful have signed and returned them, according to sources. Those include conglomerates large enough to buy the whole company without taking on a financial partner, such as Time Warner Inc. Time Warner declined to comment. News Corp., however, reportedly is at an impasse over a possible bid because of the strict non-disclosure agreements according to a person familiar with the matter. News Corp. publishes The Wall Street Journal.

MGM’s valuable film library, which includes more than 4,000 titles and the iconic James Bond and “Pink Panther” franchises, is the company’s most valuable asset. The studio also owns a piece of the two upcoming “Hobbit” films produced by “Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson, which are expected to become major blockbusters.

MGM expects to receive its first round of offers in mid-January. The company’s creditors are hoping for a bid of at least $2 billion, according to the people familiar with the matter. If no buyers come through, the company could alter the non-disclosure agreements and widen the pool of potential buyers. The creditors could also choose to keep the company and restructure it, likely under a pre-packaged bankruptcy process.

Once at the vanguard of Hollywood, MGM now finds itself with little room to maneuver. In August, the studio’s owners—led by Providence Equity Partners, TPG, Comcast Corp. and Sony Corp.—replaced Chief Executive Harry Sloan with turnaround expert Stephen Cooper. And it only released one film this year: a remake of a 1980s musical film, “Fame,” which underperformed at the box office.

MGM had brought in top-tier talent to jumpstart its movie studio in 2008—including Mary Parent, a star executive who joined MGM as chairman of its world-wide motion picture group after a long stint running production at Universal Pictures. But the nature of the film industry means that new team’s slate of pictures is just beginning to hit theatrical release now and won’t immediately generate cash.

If the company seeks bankruptcy protection, that could trigger the dissolution of several big contracts. Some executives at the studio are seeking advice on how to insulate themselves from possible fallout.

A spokeswoman for Boies Schiller & Flexner said that Ms. Parent had retained Hollywood power attorney David Boies. Ms. Parent declined to comment.

In November, MGM reached an agreement with its lenders to forgo interest payments on its massive $3.7 million debt until the end of January, in hopes of biding time to develop a long-term plan. The company also faces payments on a $250 million revolving credit facility, which comes due in April of next year.

None from the 90s stick with me either .
I likes the Patti LaBelle one from License to Kill , the closing song ...If you want me to .
I still like Adele . She is sultry and jazzy .

I knew they weren't finished with Mr. White since he wasn't caught in the last film . Last time we saw him was at the opera right ? Unless it is dealt with fast in the new one, then this would be a trilogy and unheard of in Bond history as is having a sequal as QOS was .

Very interesting, it iwll be good to bring back Mr. White. I felt hanging at the end of QOS, never really knew what happenend to him. Another thing interesting no David Arnold for music. Monty Norma instead.
Daniel said in an interview this was the end of the story he was ready to move onto a new story line. But White lingering it does call for some finishing touches. White could also be hte vilian, we know he was the mastermind behing the money.
Will be interesting to see what happends.

007 questions for 2010

001. Who ends up buying MGM? The studio is partners with Eon Productions in the James Bond franchise. The uncertainty in MGM’s financial future put a stop to writing efforts on Bond 23 until February, according to screenwriter Peter Morgan. So whether a 007 fan cares about business news, this is one financial story that has an impact on Bond fans.

002. Is the current delay in scripting Bond 23 just a speedbump en route to a 2011 release or could it be the start of more delays? This question obviously is related to 001. Still Bond fans have been here before: the 1989-1995 hiatus, which involved Eon suing MGM (which had been bought by an owner that Eon felt was making cheap deals to sell rights to TV showings of 007 films) and the 2002-2006 break that involved the firing of the series’ star and a rethinking about the series’ direction.

003. Will Eon actually get non-007 movies to the screen? Technically speaking, Call Me Bwana is the only non-Bond film that’s an official Eon-made film. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, while produced by Albert R. Broccoli and using many Bond crew veterans, was not an Eon-made film and Harry Saltzman’s various non-Bond films of the 1960s and later weren’t made through Eon, either.

Eon says it’s developing movie versions of A Steady Rain, the minimalist play that recently starred Daniel Craig, and Remote Control. Of course, Eon also had developed a Jinx movie based on the character Halle Berry played in Die Another Day and nothing came of that.

004. Is Eon mentoring eventual successors to Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli? Wilson is now 66 and more than once has talked about how exhausting movies are to make. Barbara Broccoli turns 50 in 2010, younger than her father was when he and Saltzman made Dr. No. Both had lengthy training to take the Eon reins. Gregg Wilson, one of Michael’s sons, was listed as assistant producer in Quantum of Solace. It’ll be interesting to see if the younger Wilson becomes more prominent at Eon or not.

005. Assuming the answers to 001 and 002 fall on the optimstic side, would Bond 23 use a Fleming title? There aren’t many left but then again a lot of fans may not have thought they’d use Quantum of Solace, either.

006. Assuming a 2011 release, who would direct Bond 23? Related question: will it be a director who uses as shaky a camera as Marc Forster did in Quantum?

007. Are there any plans for Ian Fleming Publications to do another 007 continuation novel? We haven’t heard much since IFP came out with the heavily promoted Devil May Care in 2008. Over at Commander Bond.net, there have been reports there may be a new Young Bond novel in 2011.
