Ralph Fiennes talks about 'Skyfall' for the first time
Ralph Fiennes could not attend the "Skyfall" (Bond 23) press conference yesterday due to prior work commitments publicizing his new movie "Coriolanus" (which he also directed), but IFC had the fortuitous timing of interviewing the actor shortly after his Bond role was confirmed.
"If you're a Bond fan," Fiennes said, "then you'll be happy."
"I can tell you that John Logan has written a fantastic screenplay and [director] Sam Mendes is a class act. They're doing something quite special I think. I think they're going to be great for Bond."
Fiennes, who said he prefers the darkness of the books over the films, and whose first cinematic 007 experience was "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", was asked whether his character would be joining in with the action sequences. "I can't answer that question," he said. "I don't get laid, that's for sure."

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Could be true, eh?
DANIEL Craig has asked for a double bed in his trailer on the set of the new James Bond movie Skyfall.
The 007 actor wants enough room for his new wife Rachel Weisz — whom he married in June — to be able to stay with him on set, so he can concentrate his full attention on getting into character as the iconic spy, rather than having to jet off to see her.
“He asked for the trailer so it could be effectively a second home and is wife can visit him during filming,” a source said.
“It means he can spend more time on set and put everything into the next Bond, as he always does.”

Skyfall filming started yesterday in Southwark in a car park underneath Railway Arches between Great Suffolk Street and Ewer street, car seen being filmed with Black Range Rovers and Silver Jaguar XF's. Location indicator is B23 with main base opposite ITV Southbank Studios
Interesting. Early reports suggested the filming would take place around Smithfield Markets. I suppose that's still possible; the markets are only a mile away as the crow flies (and just two kilometres taking the most direct route). And there's talk of a scene involving a bridge being hit somehow; the most-direct route from Southwark to Smithfield - Great Suffolk Road, up onto the A3200, over the Thames to the A201 and then right onto Charterhouse Road - goes over the Blackfriars Bridge. Maybe there's some truth in it.

RANT ALERT
This just gripes me. From US mag.
After much speculation, a Thursday press conference in London confirmed that the British actor, 43, will indeed reprise his role as the dashing MI6 agent in the next Bond film, entitled Skyfall. The sixth actor to play the British super-spy, Craig was rumored to be out of the franchise after just two films; Idris Elba and Timothy Gibbs actors had been mentioned as potential replacements for the iconic role.
I guess 'rumoured' is the key

Damn. No future with Daniel Craig.
Fourwordsbeforesex "Hello, I'm Daniel Craig."
Fourwordsbeforesex "Hello, I'm Daniel Craig."
Don't know whether this is true, but I just read a post on IMDB regarding Bond and 3D
if true, great answer from MendesEmpire did a survey a few years back where they asked all these directors to fill in this questionaire. One of the questions was "would you ever shoot in 3D?" to which Mendes rather pretentiously replied, "I already have - it's called the theatre".
According to the article below, if they shoot in 3D, Daniel himself might watch it in the 2D format.
Daniel Craig says he is glad that his new film Cowboys and Aliens is being released in the traditional 2D format.
The actor says 3D gives him headaches and that the glasses make everyone look silly while at the cinema.
The James Bond star has been talking to Newsbeat entertainment reporter Natalie Jamieson ahead of the release of the film.

A bit more about double beds in trailers
Daniel Craig - Daniel Craig Wants Double Bond Bed

The 007 actor wants enough room for his new wife Rachel Weisz - whom he married in June - to be able to stay with him on set, so he can concentrate his full attention getting into character as the iconic spy, rather than having to jet off to see her.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "He asked for the trailer so it could be effectively a second home and his wife can visit him during filming.
"It means he can spend more time on set and put everything into the next Bond, as he always does."
Alongside the double bed, Daniel's list of requirements also includes a coffee machine with South American beans, two bodyguards, a masseuse, a trainer and access to a gym.
The 43-year-old star is said to be on a strict exercise regime to get back to his best shape for his third outing as the screen spy, as well as being told to grow a full beard, sparking speculation 'Skyfall' will have a terrorist based plotline.
The source added: "He's getting in amazing shape. Daniel doing the full beard and is in preparations for a massive car chase scene."
At a press conference in London yesterday (03.11.11), Daniel posed with bond girls Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe where director Sam Mendes said the film will not be in any way connected to either of the last two films to feature Daniel, 'Quantum of Solace' or 'Casino Royale'.
The film is set to be shot primarily at Pinewood Studios in England, as well as on location in London, China, Turkey and Scotland and will also feature Javier Bardem, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw.
