Bond 23 - 02-12-08

Bond star Daniel Craig has made a raunchy promise to 007 fans - the superspy's next big screen outing will be much steamier - reports Contact Music.

Craig's latest turn as the suave secret agent, Quantum of Solace, has proved a huge hit with fans and critics alike, shooting to number one at the U.K. and U.S. box office - enjoying the most lucrative Bond film opening in history.

But Craig and Bond boss Barbara Broccoli decided to focus on 007's action-packed career, rather than his bedroom antics - much to the dismay of red-blooded fans.

However, the British actor has promised the next film in the successful franchise will involve more sexy scenes - despite vowing never to strut around half-naked after the attention he garnered for his famous speedo-sporting shot in his Bond debut, Casino Royale.

He says, "For Bond to jump in bed with ten women would contradict the whole things."

"But the next movie - everybody wants it (saucy scenes) so we're going to have it."

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Daniel Craig says `no way` to a 007 trilogy

Bond 23 - 08-12-08

Earlier today Collider.com attended the press day for Paramount Vantage’s upcoming film “Defiance”. If you aren’t familiar with the movie, it stars Daniel Craig and it’s based on the extraordinary true story of a group of Jews that banded together to survive in a forest in Eastern Europe during WW2 - reports Collider.

But let’s get to the reason you’re here.

Since Daniel is the current James Bond, while talking with him about “Defiance”, we were able to ask a few James Bond questions and his answers told us a lot about the future of the iconic franchise.

As most of you know from an interview I did with director Marc Forester, when Marc made “Quantum of Solace”, he originally had a different ending in mind. The original ending made “Quantum” the middle chapter of a trilogy. But after their first screening, Marc removed the last scene (which ran about a minute) and ended the movie in such a way that it leaves the door open for the next filmmaker to decide what to do.

For the next film, they can either use the deleted ending as their start point, or they can pretend that it never happened and just begin fresh.

And according to Daniel Craig, that’s what they’re going to do. When asked if the next “Bond” would be part of a trilogy, he said, “No f**king way. I’m done with that story. I want to lie on a beach for the first half an hour of the next movie drinking a cocktail.”

While he was obviously kidding about lying on the beach for the first thirty minutes, I’m sure he meant every word about the next “Bond” movie starting fresh. In fact, he had a few ideas about what he wants to do and they sound really good. Here’s what he said:

“We’ve finished this story as far as I’m concerned. We’ve got a great set of bad guys. There is an organization that we can use whenever we want to. The relationship between Bond and M is secure and Felix is secure. Let’s try and find where Moneypenny came from and where Q comes from. Let’s do all that and have some fun with it.”

The way he’s talking about the future, the next film might feature a return to the technology that’s been missing in these first two Daniel Craig “Bond” movies. In fact, the introduction of Q could be a main part of the movie. Maybe Bond has to rescue Q from whatever bad guys are in the next movie and turn him. Maybe he’s a genius inventor that the entire world wants and that’s the way they can introduce his ability to invent gadgets for future movies. The possibilities are endless.

While this is me just speculating, one of the things I’ve loved about both Daniel Craig Bond movies are the way they’re set in the real world. They’re not loaded with sci-fi special effects. While I’d love to see Q enter into this new Bond universe, I just hope they find a real world way of using his technology.

Finally, when asked about his future plans and if he’d like to make another movie before the next “Bond” film:

"We don’t know when we’re going to do the next Bond. Nobody’s thinking about it at the moment. We’re giving it a rest for the moment. If I can squeeze something in next year I will…but I haven’t figured out what that’ll be yet. But nothing in the cold."

With the amount of money James Bond makes, I’m sure we’ll be hearing about the next film being greenlit sometimes next year. Until then…

Daniel Craig confirms speculation that he wants Bond 23 to have a fresh start, free from the story arc of "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace"...

A Fresh Start For Bond 23
7th December 2008

Daniel Craig has confirmed that the 23rd James Bond film will likely revert to the usual 007 formula of standalone adventures. As "Quantum of Solace" director Marc Forster left the original ending to the film on the cutting room floor (visit the movie coverage section for full details), the door has been left open for a fresh start on Bond 23 without any hang-over from the two-film story arc that began in "Casino Royale".

In an interview with Collider.com, Craig was first asked about the idea of stretching the story in to a third film.

“No fucking way. I’m done with that story," he said. "I want to lie on a beach for the first half an hour of the next movie drinking a cocktail."

While obviously joking about how the first half hour of Bond 23 would play out, Craig did voice some opinion on how the next adventure should be treated, and the possible inclusion of franchise regulars Q and Moneypenny - missing in action since he took over the tuxedo from Pierce Brosnan.

"We’ve finished this story as far as I’m concerned. We’ve got a great set of bad guys. There is an organization that we can use whenever we want to [Quantum]. The relationship between Bond and M is secure and Felix is secure. Let’s try and find where Moneypenny came from and where Q comes from. Let’s do all that and have some fun with it."

No release date has been announced for Bond 23, with fans and experts unsure whether it will be 2010 or 2011.

When quizzed about the schedule, Craig said:"We don’t know when we’re going to do the next Bond. Nobody’s thinking about it at the moment. We’re giving it a rest for the moment. If I can squeeze something in next year I will…but I haven’t figured out what that’ll be yet. But nothing in the cold."

Producer Michael G. Wilson Wilson confirmed a few weeks ago that pre-production was due to start shortly. "Last time when we were in post production on Casino Royale we were already working on Quantum Of Solace", Wilson said. "This time we haven’t even started but in January we are going to get some writers together and start kicking some ideas around." Starting the screenplay in January could mean that Bond 23 hits the traditional November slot in 2010. The wrinkle to the usual two-year timeline could be the hand-over from Sony back to MGM, pushing the release to 2011.

Another tidbit:
Craig Denies Bond Sequel

James Bond star Daniel Craig has denied the next 007 will be a sequel to Quantum Of Solace.

The latest superspy picture - which followed on from Craig's debut in 2006's Casino Royale - has been a major international hit, scoring high in box office charts the world over.

But Craig is adamant that his third outing as the secret agent will feature a brand new storyline.

He tells Collider, "No f**king way. I'm done with that story. I want to lie on a beach for the first half an hour of the next movie drinking a cocktail.

"We've finished this story as far as I'm concerned. We've got a great set of bad guys. There is an organisation that we can use whenever we want to. The relationship between Bond and M is secure and Felix is secure. Let's try and find where Moneypenny came from and where Q comes from. Let's do all that and have some fun with it."

But Craig admits there is currently no filming schedule in place for the next Bond movie.

He adds, "Nobody's thinking about it at the moment. We're giving it a rest for the moment. If I can squeeze something in next year I will... but I haven't figured out what that'll be yet. But nothing in the cold."

I don't put much stock in this, but wanted to share it.

http://proyectosdecine.wordpress.com/20 ... a-el-2010/

El nuevo título será ” The Property of a Lady “

Its a very nice poster and the Property of a Lady is a possible title still left. I would love a confirmation for 2010, although I doubt it at this point. Michael G. Wilson wanted a rest, but is quoted as saying, they would start throwing around some ideas in January.

LOL Lu, M does own James!

It's an Ian Fleming story. I think a continuation of the Octopussy story.

I think Bond 23 will need a new line, and a story. I'm very loyal with Mr. Craig but QoS hasn't a very good script. OK it has got lot of action, but Mr. Craig doesn't speak a lot. I think when he got his lines, they have room on max. three pages.
If I would be the producer of Bond franchise I would ask the writers of Spooks to write a good and interesting story. I think they will able to write a good Bond story.

Daniel Craig reflects on "Quantum of Solace" and talks about the direction Bond 23 may take...

Craig On Bond 23
4th January 2009

Daniel Craig has expanded on his earlier comments about Bond 23 as well as looking back on the success of "Quantum of Solace" in a new interview with The Times.

At the time of the interview, "Quantum" had just surpassed the $500m mark at the worldwide box-office. "Although I wouldn’t know $500m if it sat on my face," Craig said. "But it would probably be quite nice if it sat on my face. I know that, when it comes down to it, these films are about box office, but the moment I start thinking about the figures, I’ll be stuffed – though maybe I won’t be saying that in a year’s time, when I’ve spent everything."

Repeating the success of "Casino Royale" was no mean feat, either. "The first film was a huge punt, although I think if it had failed miserably, I could have walked away with my head held high and said, ‘Well, I gave it a go.’ But the fact was that it wasn’t", Craig said. "It was a success, and in a way that nobody could have predicted. Quantum was about keeping it interesting, relevant, and the only way I could think about doing that was just to throw myself headlong into it. So I know the work we put in. We didn’t have a complete script, so Marc Forster and I had to batter it into shape, to find the story we wanted to tell."

When asked whether he was bothered about "Quantum" being criticised for being too dark, he said: "Well, I nicked a lot of the ideas about who Bond is from Ian Fleming. But the point is, we did the movie we had to do to finish the story off, and comedy and lightness weren’t relevant. This was a story about loyalty, about friendship, about who you can trust. Gag-writing wasn’t at the top of the list."

Bond 23
Backing up his earlier comments that the writing process on Bond 23 can start with a clean slate now the story-arc from "Casino Royale" has been wrapped up, Craig said that the tone could be completely different too. "I love the idea of putting Moneypenny in the film," he said "I’m dead keen to do it. And Q. But I work from the premise that there are millions and millions of people out there who never saw one of the earlier Bond movies. So they don’t understand the martini gag. Or the Moneypenny gag, which is a gag - it had ceased to be a character. So, let’s find out who she is. We can have fun doing that. And, don’t get me wrong, I’m up for a submarine base, as long as the gag works. The problem is that Austin Powers screwed everything up. He exploded the genre. Did I just say that? I did."

No release date has been announced for Bond 23, with fans and experts unsure whether it will be 2010 or 2011. Starting the screenplay in January (as per producer Michael G. Wilson's comments last month) could mean that Bond 23 hits the traditional November slot in 2010. The wrinkle to the usual two-year timeline could be the hand-over from Sony back to MGM, pushing the release to 2011.

One of the things that I liked about QoS so much was that it finished up CR's story line and put an end to his relationship with Vesper. If they would have started a whole new story line it would have felt like they cheated out the audience on Bond's personal struggle and made the relationship between the two kind of worthless.

Now here's my rather radical idea for a story line: what happens if Bond finds out he has a child? Not with Vesper obviously, but some form a 'quick relationship' that comes back to haunt him? That could delve into an entirely new storyline and possibly new characters.

I agree with you about this 'fresh start' thing but the idea with a child (Vesper's one) was the original (then rejected) QOS idea of Paul Haggis. Thank God they decided to drop it...
