Umm..."Mommy has to go away for 12 weeks to serve her country" (?) After all, foreign 'relations' are critical to world peace.

I've searched the employment opportunities in the NYTimes looking for that dream job of mine: "12-week position. Personal caretaker for Daniel Craig. Requirements: Dressing, bathing, other duties as needed. Cooking not required."

No luck yet. They just probably haven't gotten around to posting

I agree with the sentiment GG. It just would have been so much easier for me to have gone to see it in London. Am still trying to persuade my friend to come to NY with me (she's more tempted now that she know Hugh Jackman is in it too), but I have to say that it's highly unlikely we'll actually make it across the pond :(

Ha! But I think I will shrink the towel to a washcloth size. It would be my job to see that he is thoroughly dry.

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig on Broadway

Wow, in my opinion two of the hottest guys on the planet will be appearing in a play together starting in September called a steady rain. It’s about 2 police men in Chicago. Hope I can get tickets for this lust for the eyes, don’t care about the storyline. It’s gonna be Craig’s first Broadway play, Jackman is already a veteran on Broadway.

Two of my sentiments too, written here

Ahhh...to know this, give something very special to me...HOPE.

I've read that tickets will go on sale to the general public July 25 at 12:01 AM ET.

Does anyone know what time that will equate to in the UK??

Thanks Elaine! I'm hopeless with these sort of things, but have worked out that it'll be 5.00 am in the UK. Will need to set my alarm (that's if I finally decide to go for it :? )

When it rains it pours for Keith Huff

It's been a solid few months for playwright Keith Huff.

First, A-list Hollywood talent Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman signed on to star in Huff's play, "A Steady Rain," which starts Broadway previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Sept. 10. And now Huff has sold the film rights to James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. WIlson, who are also among the producers of the play.

Huff will adapt the screenplay. The deal is in the mid-six figures against $1 million.

The play's press notes describe "Rain" as "a new American play that tells the story of two Chicago cops who are lifelong friends and their differing accounts of a few harrowing days that changed their lives forever." The conflict stems from their involvement in a domestic dispute in a poor neighborhood.

"Rain" began its stage life in 2006 and had its professional world premiere in 2007 at Chicago Dramatists. The Broadway run, directed by John Crowley, will play a limited 12-week engagement through December 6. It opens Sept. 29.

This will be a Broadway debut for Craig, a Royal National Theatre vet in London who has also starred in the last two Bond films, "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace," for Broccoli and Wilson.

Huff, who is repped by Gersh and John Bauman, has written two other plays, "The Detective's Wife" and "Tell Us of the Night," which complete a trilogy that begins with "Rain." Though Craig and Jackman have not been cast in the film version, the Bond producers may be eyeing a potential franchise for two stars with huge international appeal and proven dramatic chops.
Huff is also the author of the plays "Pursued by Happiness," "Gray City" and "The Bird and Mr. Banks."

Doesn't it!! All these little tidbits of info surrounding what Babs and Eon does with Daniel, it seems to me that they are trying to repay him for the huge gamble he took with his serious and well-respected dramatic reputation when he took on Bond. Babs in particular seem to be very protective of him. She's said they would be a fools to let him go. Maybe deals like this are the price of getting him to stay?
