Title question on IMBD:
Will Daniel Craig's Blomkvist be a badass in this version?
Casting Craig automatically gives the character testosterone, a hard masculine edge, versus the doughy, flaccid persona I saw in the Swedish movie; and by testosterone I'm not implying he'll play badass but rather will exude masculine energy.
Yes, speaking for myself (as a woman), I agree completely, he exudes masculine energy. [[smile]]

But I think this 'badass' description is more the influence of his work lately as James Bond. Those who know his work, even before he dreamt of being Bond, have the experience of seeing a very nuanced, dedicated and intense actor. And playing parts that couldn't be more different than 007 too. I saw him in a play, here in NYC, playing a cop/detective. And as a cop/detective he couldn't be more far away from any badass description anyone can give him (and with a very good American accent, according to critics).

I said before here, it will be very difficult for me to be disappointed by Daniel Craig in this film. It can happen of course, but I believe this is a very good part for him to sink his teeth into. Blomkvist is perfect for him.

I agree with that. More than how the character was designed by the film-maker it might simply be Craig's own machismo that will give his character a hard masculine edge.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

So many people out there are not happy with the poster...I dont get it!

They are saying its wrong, it sexualizes Lisbeth and shes not like that and Daniel is too old or too young and the characters would never pose like that etc.......

I think its the best movie poster ive seen so far and thats not because Daniel is in it.............really.....

I totally agree with you, and also agree not, only because Daniel is in it.

It reflects the books as far as I am concerned, and artistically it is superb.

Can anybody enlighten me..... what is the difference between the red and green band trailers for GWDT??? :? I went to view the trailer before I logged off yesterday and my old link for the red band one at youtube didn't work... it just brought up a message saying it had to be deleted. And yet, the link added to the D2D homepage is a green band trailer and it comes up with no problems. The green band trailer does look slightly different ... maybe it is just less explicit???

Green Band: An all-green graphic at the beginning of the trailer, usually reading "The following PREVIEW has been approved for ALL AUDIENCES by the Motion Picture Association of America," and sometimes including the movie's MPAA rating. This signifies that the trailer adheres to the standards for motion picture advertising outlined by the MPAA, which includes limitations on foul language and violent, sexual, or otherwise objectionable imagery.

Yellow Band: Yellow graphic that reads "The following PREVIEW has been approved ONLY for AGE-APPROPRIATE internet users by the Motion Picture Association of America". The MPAA also mandates that trailers not exceed two minutes and thirty seconds in length, and each major studio is given one exception to this rule per year.

Red Band: In short, Red Band means the trailer is unrated and just about everything goes. These trailers open with, "The following PREVIEW has been approved for RESTRICTED AUDIENCES ONLY by the Motion Picture Association of America." Red Band trailers can only be watched before R-rated, NC-17 rated or unrated films.

I was a little bit behind myself in seeing the red band, I didn't see it until the morning after when only 2 were available on youtube, but there were "not available" notices on about a dozen underneath it.

There was debate across the internet that the red band one had been leaked out without Sony / Fincher's permission. Either that or it was a secret giant publicity coup from them because it generated frantic interest!

I couldn't see that much difference myself, but the green band one did look a little more polished and finished.

Thanks JEC ... the green band one didn't seem to include the split second showing of Blomqvist's torture scene... that was the only real difference I noted ... and maybe the green band trailer is slightly longer? :)

I dislike this poster too, besides that few months ago i've posted a similar comments regarding the piccies of Mara.
In this poster Mara is naked, with his poor nipples pieced exposed,Craig is completely dressed,he seems evil and overall i don't like how he looks,he seems very very old.
I don't like it definitely.

Great comments, thanks for posting them GG...they've hit the nail on the head about what he can bring to a role. I love the books and while not having seen the Swedish films to draw a comparison, when I heard Daniel was being considered for Blomkvist, my first reaction was 'ideal choice!'

As regards the trailers, I'd heard the same thing JEC57 did about the 'leaking' of the red band version. Not much difference between that and the green version that I could see other than less of Blomkvist bloodied in the bathroom...which reminded me of DC as 007 in Casino Royale after the stairwell fight a bit!
Dreaming as always...

Do you want the truth...or something beautiful?

the green band was 2 seconds longer and I noticed only very little difference, too.

The green band missed the torture scene, the bloody Daniel and the nacked boobs of Lisbeth. But it included the lesbian kiss between Lisbeth and Miriam.

Slightly off topic but then again not. How on earth did they show Hangover 2 in the US? Its so showing...I have never seen something like that in a "normal" entertainment film.

What do you mean, GG? It's rated R. I'm not sure if that answers your question.

Do we have the red band version of Tattoo saved????
