WOW. That's huge. SF: wasn't he not supposed to be in this small group. I've read where they don't like Fincher in LA, think he is arrogant etc, but they sure respect his work. Yes!!!!

Now it's really important that Tattoo get some major Oscar noms to help promotion so it can keep making $$$. I think all the Sony statements about doing the next 2 books, are still mostly PR. The final gross will determine if they really do it, and hopefully cheaper so they don't have to make huge profits to be viewed as a success. But it is holding its own.

From BoxOfficeMojo.com

Dipping just 24 percent to an estimated $11.3 million, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo had the best hold among all nationwide releases this weekend. The movie has now earned $76.8 million, and a Sony spokesperson indicated that they believe the movie is on pace to ultimately wind up with over $100 million. :)

20.000 leagues under the sea, how many times has that story be re-hashed into a film. snoresville. I hope fincher does do the sequels.

I wish he would come back and do the other 2. It just wouldn't be the same otherwise
There’s bound to be a lot of heavy post-production on an FX film like 20,000 Leagues so unless Fincher can be talked into pulling a Spielberg* or perhaps a Danny Boyle** then something is going to have to give.
Can he not do the post-prod in Sweden or wherever he is?

If not Fincher, does anyone have any idea who they would like to see direct the other 2?
I would like Martin Scorsese to work with Daniel :D if not in this but sometime down the line.

The DGA Award is an important precursor in the run-up to the announcement of Academy Award nominations.

It is like she is recycling one of the recent dresses she wore!
I swear I saw her wear something similar for one of the other premieres  She needs to get a diff stylist or get one if she doesn't have any!

similar to the Berlin outfit
whe you click on SG's link you'll see it.

Not a fan of the dresses, but she's still a young girl and can pull it off.
It's a different Red Carpet look for sure and I somehow like that.

Well, he sure is good, but he is not the only good one around. If they get a real classy one, I am fine with it. as long as they do them. Personaslly, I would make one film out of 2 and 3. I am not sure, the interest for sequels, where people know, what happens, will be that high for ever.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

I agree GG, Books two and three are one story and the stuff about the secret service could be easily condensed. Stronger chance maybe :dunno:  k
