“Skyfall” is off and running overseas, with a $77 million haul in its debut in 25 foreign markets.
Setting the pace was U,K., where the 23rd film in the 50-year-old franchise opened to an estimated $32.4 million. That's the U.K.'s second-best Friday-to-Sunday opening weekend ever, behind only last year's "Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2"
“Quantum of Solace," the previous film in the franchise, had a $25 million opening weekend in the U.K. in 2008. It went on to take in more than $80 million there, on its way to a global haul of $586 million.
Other impressive bows included France, where "Skyfall" took in $9.1 million; Russia, where it made $8.6 million; Brazil at $6.5 million and Korea, where it brought in $6.1 million.
The Imax numbers for "Skyfall" were sensational. It took in $3.5 million in 79 locations over 15 territories for a whopping $45,000 per-screen aveage. That's the best international non-summer/non-holiday opening in the company's history
“Skyfall” stars Daniel Craig as 007. Sam Mendes (“Revolutionary Road”) directs a cast that includes Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris.
Bond movies hardly need a boost in the U.K., but this one got a ton of exposure in July when Craig helped open the London Olympics along with the Queen.
Sony will open “Skyfall” in the U.S. on Nov. 9.

SUNDAY AM UPDATE: Sony Pictures’ and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s Skyfall, the 23rd film in the James Bond series, opened overseas in 25 markets and grossed a staggering $77.7 million, #1 everywhere. Setting the pace was of course the UK, which opened to an enormous estimated $32.4 million (£20.1M). Smashing the all-time Saturday attendance record Saturday, this is the biggest opening of 2012 and the 2nd biggest Friday-to-Sunday opening weekend in history there, behind just the 3D Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2. This launch was 76% bigger than Daniel Craig’s first turn as 007, Casino Royale, and 30% bigger than Quantum Of Solace. Of the $77.7M on Skyfall, IMAX is estimating a weekend gross of $3.5M in 79 locations in 15 territories which include the UK, France, Russia, Korea, Bulgaria, Middle East, Kazakhstan and Brazil.

This is getting crazy. Skyfall set an extraordinary record for Monday ticket sales!
SKYFALL £4.3m
HPDH2 £3.2m
TDKR £2.3m
HPDH1 £1.7m
QoS £1.8m
Most blockbusters would be very happy with that for opening day, but Monday!!!

'Skyfall' Shatters U.K. Record for Monday Box Office
The U.K.'s fascination with James Bond has never been more intense, at least at the box office. "Skyfall," the latest entry in the super spy franchise, has set the record for that country's biggest Monday ever, taking in $6.8 million.
That tops the previous Monday all-time high, set by last year's "Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" with $5.1 million. The 23rd film in the 50-year-old Bond film franchise has now taken in more than $96 million in four days and should pass the $100 million mark Thursday
"Skyfall" is playing in 25 foreign countries ahead of its Nov. 9 bow in the U.S. Other notable four-day hauls: Russia, $9.2 million, France, $8.6 million; Korea, $6.5 million, and Brazil, $3.6 million.

The critically acclaimed 23rd James Bond film won't be released in US theaters until November 9th (and IMAX theaters the day before), but Skyfall has already grossed over $96 million overseas and is expected to pass $100M by Thursday. Hit the jump for more details.
Paul Romano - 10/30/2012
After having the biggest opening weekend in the UK (grossing $32.4M this past weekend), Sony Pictures and MGM's Skyfall continues to be a success at the box office before it opens in North America. The 23rd adventure of James Bond, directed by Sam Mendes, has currently grossed $96.5M in less than a week in overseas locations. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is expected to cross the $100M mark by Thursday. Skyfall has also set a new record for a gross on Monday in the UK, reaching $6.8M and beating the record previously set by Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2. Additionally, the movie made $386,000 in Brazil. That's over 80% ahead of what the last James Bond film, Quantum Of Solace, made in four days in the country with its %3.6 million. Skyfall's four day cume in France is $12.8M, $9.2M in Russia and $6.5M in South Korea.
Skyfall will be released in North American IMAX theaters on November 8th, and will arrive in conventional theaters the next day.
