The Yanks really dislike Spectre. Complete snub for the MTV Awards.
One could say, Daniel is not very popular right now in the States.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

But then again, I looked it up, SF didn't get Best Movie or Best male Performance either. But it got something. Best shirtless and best fight.

Weird. Sp should have gotten Best Fight at least. Shame.

Ya its something Ive always kind if noticed is that americans dont have the same appreciation for Bond as the rest of world especially Europe has. I do not mean that in any discriminatory way at all, just something ive noticed sometimes.

As a Brit in the U.S. I somewhat agree, but no wholly. Let's not forget that Bond is a quintessentially British character and born in a time when Britain still had a significant role to play on the world stage.

He also embodies everything that is the antithesis of the traditional modern male Hollywood action hero = Batman, Superman, etc. Indiana Jones is probably the one that comes closest. There just isn't any comparison, thank god. So there is still a place for Bond, but I think you have to be British to truly appreciate the world that he inhabits.

Also let's not forget that these awards are based on the lobbying of the studios/actors/PR teams. Bond has been around so long that it's unlikely to get traction when it comes to award season, and I bet the producers know that. That's not even their goal IMO. Awards come and go, winners are often forgettable - Bond already has longevity, status, and all that, without a trophy on his bare apartment shelf!

via Empire Magazine's Twitter feed:

"And the winner of Best Thriller is a kite dancing in a hurricane. Sorry, wait, no, it's SPECTRE. #JamesonEmpireAwards"

"Best British Film (sponsored by @THR) next. A hotly-contested category...but SPECTRE wins its second gong of the night! #JamesonEmpireAwards"

It's here as well now, too. Sam Mendes picked up the award in person for best British film.

Oh nice to see this, thank you. I too appreciate that it still gets noticed rather than considered as an after thought.
