CockHargreaves wrote:My guests could easily change, but I've gone for what I think would be a fascinating and entertaining mix of people:

1 Daniel Craig (he has to sit next to me, obviously)
2 Eleanor Roosevelt
3 Aneurin Bevan (a Welsh hero, founder of the National Health Service who believed everyone, rich or poor, should have access to medical help from the cradle to the grave)
4 Aphra Behn
5 William Shakespeare
6 Rachel Weisz
7 Stephen Fry
Interesting mix CH! I would definitely like to meet Aneurin Bevan. Sadly, we don't get politicians like him any more.

My list.........

Daniel - sitting opposite me so I can look at him without staring and can catch his attention. :sigh:

Christopher Eccleston

Patrick Stewart

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVl

Martin Luther King Jnr

JRR Tolkien

Golda Meir

Mary Magalene

Eleanor of Aquitaine

Mary Wollstonecraft

Cool list - are you a Formel 1 fan?
Are there films about Wollstonecraft? Her life seems like film material.

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

I can't say I've ever heard of a film about Mary Wollstonecraft. I had to study her at university and got a real appreciation for her. I don't agree with everything she said, but she was an inspiring woman for her achievements.

Formula 1? Me? Noooo!! :? Too boring and too noisy. Curious why you asked? :-k

Watched the clip....my French is worse than my German, if that is at all possible!!....... so I probably missed the point.

I note the sub heading has been changed to VERY Dry Spell....

I agree... this is hard. He's a naughty boy but what are we gonna DO about that? We could put him over our knee and give him a good spanking.  Like I said, not much we can do but wait for the good stuff to come along and hope he surprises us sooner rather than later....

I wouldn't want Bernie at my party. He'd probably try to charge me admission or something...
Why, oh why did I not think of Eleanor of Aquitaine?!

1. DANIEL (my left profile is better, I think :) )
2. Judi Dench (they seem to get along very well together and she's fun)
3. Ian Fleming
4. Ernest Hemingway
5. Aung San Suu Kyi (Daniel admires her and so do I, it would be nice to have her sitting opposite us)
6. George Sand
7. Julian Sands ( I fancied him once, he's so withdrawn and aloof, which I like, and he used to be very generous with his body in his movies ;) And he was in a movie by one of my favourite Polish directors, Krzysztof Zanussi 'Wherever you are...')

I think it would be quite an 'explosive' and fascinating combination :)

...@BTW, Jec,
Eleanor of Aquitaine is a very interesting choice.
I am very interested in that part of European history.

Anyway, that table is too small for my requirements :) And to choose 7 people is a very hard task. I've just come up with quite a few more names, like Diogenes of Sinope, Marcus Junius Brutus, Virginia Woolf, Gary Sinise, Cary Grant, Bona Sforza, Adele Hugo, and a few more, but let's just leave it as it is. :)
