Littlesue wrote:Saw it last night, thought it was good but not a patch on Casino Royale, totally diferent to Skyfall, more of the old type Bond action film. Daniel was excellent an so was the supporting stars. One gripe was the rushed ending and also the blonde proclaiming her love after a couple of days, I hate that in any Bond film. Another was did'nt find the girl that attractive, but then it would be obvious as she never got much decent clothes or makeup besides the train scene. Monica lovely although that poker straight hair with a middle parting like a pair of curtains is the most unflattering style on the older lady. Also got the impression it would be Craig and Mendes last Bond film.
DON'T READ THIS SD!!!!

Hmmm, I read your review with interest Littlesue. I have already started trying to dissect Spectre having only seen it twice by now but I think it's a mistake to try and do that. You just have to sit back and LET the movie entertain you. It's clear on the screen that an incredible amount of work went into it. I thought Lea was good ... I was surprised by her. She said those 3 little words when Bond was being tortured (again)... She had to sit and watch that so what else would we expect her to say? Her character was clearly conflicted as she had feelings for Bond but did not want to be drawn into the 'spy game' again after all the hurt with her father. I expected to like Monica more but she was woefully underused, even more so than Berenice in SF. I am HOPING & PRAYING Daniel does another Bond now because I can see several story threads touched upon in SP that are 'incomplete'... It needs just one more outing to tie up all the loose ends. Another actor cannot pick up the thread that Daniel has started. It would look and feel totally wrong if that happened. :)

I'm with you, SDK - he HAS to do one more to complete the story arc. As you say, there are still loose ends and it wouldn't make sense to have another actor pick those up (and, personally, I'm not quite sure how I'm going to be able to accept another actor in the role anyway :? )

I saw Spectre yesterday evening at the BFI IMAX in London and it was a hugely enjoyable experience. It is different in tone from the previous three films and I can’t really say whether I preferred it to Casino Royale and Skyfall. I have a few minor gripes, which include a rather thin plot-line, but nothing that spoils the overall enjoyment of the film. Daniel looks great in the film and his characterisation of Bond is excellent. All members of the cast give strong performances. I want to keep this review spoiler-free, so I don’t really have much else to add. If you are about to see Spectre, my advice would be to put out of your head the over-analysing and whining comments you may have read about the film (often from Bond fan-boys) and just sit back and enjoy it for Daniel’s performance and as a great piece of entertainment.

Thanks, will do that :D
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Doesn't open in US until Nov.6, and I can't go until Nov.7, so this is truly torture waiting and trying to avoid spoilers!

Saw Spectre last night. Omg its amazing!!! I lovr how more humerous Daniel's Bond has become and not as cold blooded. He was so sexy in it too. The whole story was so well done and I was glad to see a little bit of Judy in it. Im glad they addressed the idea of data and technology and surveilance taking over. Im in the tech industry and you need ethics towards data and what is being kept about us. I would deffo favour a man in the field over a computer program any day of the week! I kind of knew who Blofeld was going to be so that wasnt much of a shock. It was nice the way he drove off to spend some time with Ms Swan at the end.

The only thing I was dissapointed by was the lack of skin Daniel showed off!

Glad you enjoyed the movie SD. 8)
I think most of us who have seen it have been disappointed by Daniels "keep clothes ON" policy. HIGHLY frustrating considering how GOOD he is looking these days...

I saw it tonight at the Empire IMAX in London. I don't know.... I much preferred CR (the best) and then SF to Spectre. Action and effects are very impressive. Monica's part seemed gratuitous - over on a blink, and I guess it really comes down to there was nothing sexy about it. If it were any other 50-yr-old woman, I don't think she'd have been invited to the photo call. There was a scene that was headed somewhere with Lea, but ''CUT!' No DC skin. At all, except for a pretty worthless beginning shot that was mostly in the dark and only from his pecs up. Acting from everyone was great, but I didn't feel any chemistry between Bond and the blonde. Not that would warrant any kind of devotion to her. I give it a 7/10. I absolutely feel he could walk away from another Bond because this could wrap up his Bond nicely, and I believe him when he says he's given this Bond all he has to offer and it would just be for the money if he were to do another. Who knows.

Really disappointed in BB for keeping Daniel in long sleeves 95% of the time and stripping it of sex appeal.

I have a friend from the States out for 5 days, and today we played tourist, including the London Eye. So it felt like a bonus to have spent 9 hours walking London today and then seeing those same places in the movie tonight. That was fun.

The London Times gives it 5/5 stars, but I think you'd have to be a man or not be attracted to Daniel to rank it so highly.

Yeah, they totally stopped showing him off after CR. No idea why. Is it Daniels wish or are they all just sleeping?

But from tweets, I see there is new love for Daniel and it looks to me, like they still managed to make him sexy overall.

SF, I feel, you need another time to maybe like it more. I feel, here its mostly your disappointment in no sex. Give it a chance.

I know, and I will see it again of course. But really, we have waited this long. Seems like forever. In SF, at least we got the shot (and still) of him picking out the bullet shrapnel in the bathroom, and there was shirtless him pulling himself out of the pool and then briefly sitting on the edge. The sexy stuff was stripped out but we got to see his body.

I'm glad I was aware of the one female interviewer who expressed her displeasure about the same thing, and he reminded her of the very beginning. But that was nothing. However, in the back of my mind, I was hopeful because he had said of course he was going to take his kit off because he had trained for 6 months.

The hair was a perfect length!

See, we got good hair instead of good body.

They try to not overdo their virtues.

But yeah, it seems like such a waste and there seems no reason for it.
But now I am looking forward to what everybody says - the confidence, the swagger, the overall manly appeal he has in spades in this. And if he is in clothes, so be it. I will look through them and imagine the bulking muscle, that shines through.

There were tweets saying, he looks like he trained a lot (which is the truth, of course). So, it still shows in his overall looks and how he moves and all.

We have to make the best with what we got. Could be the last time and we won't probably see him for months or longer. If he doesn't do anything for the UN, it could be well into automn until we get to see anything from him.
Oh, how he will love that.
