Joe public and critics were expecting and disappointed they didn’t get Skyfall 2, and have taken offence and aren’t happy they got a traditional Bond film. There seems to be a shift from Daniel not being Bondian enough, we want traditional Bond to now that traditional Bond has been brought back their flaying around because their perspectives and expectations have changed.

I think Daniel and Sam have done their job, no film is perfect and you can’t second guess an audience especially when you have a 50 year old franchise with a fanbase/movie goers who want different things and who also criticises and critiques every single thing you do and are very vocal about what is sacrosanct when it comes to what they expect in a Bond movie,

Bizarre thing is reading the fan forums, plenty of posters hate Skyfall, so as per usual it’s damned if you don’t and damned if you do.

Daniel must be pissing himself with laughter after all the diatribe he received when appointed the new Bond, as now the whining is traditional is not good enough anymore.

Bringing Campbell back, won’t change the baying as CR was also criticised for being bloated. Some didn’t like Bond breaking into M’s apartment, the Mondeo, the poker game being changed, Bond being shown how to dress (dinner jacket scene) weren’t sold on Vesper and didn’t like the sinking building et al.

The problem we have is everyone and their dog are now experts and they all want a film to fill their individual needs and if it doesn’t it’s open season on the 24/7 inter web.

Of course you can't please all of the people all of the time, that goes without saying. Considering Skyfall's success, this time they went a step to far back, producing a more traditional, generic Bond flick which harks back to the past.

Why Daniel, Mendes and co thought that would work, I don't know. It might please the fanboys but the general movie going public under a certain age, less so.

When CR came out, the Daniel doubters were generally blown away by the new direction and Daniel's more realistic, gritty portrayal.
This continued in Skyfall, despite it's under par third act. Both were better written, edited and more suspenseful than Spectre

Both CR and Skyfall were both critically acclaimed all over the world, scoring 95% and 93% on RT. Spectre currently stands a 63%, lower than QoS, which is unfair because it is a better film.

CR an Skyfall were critically acclaimed because they are not typical Bond films, and critics elevated them above the norm. Since when is rotten tomatoes the benchmark for what we should like.

SP is getting a bad rap because it is being compared to CR & Skyfall, and I would suggest these two are anomalies in a short space of time when you consider the franchise is not known for it’s stellar output and I think stating them going too far back is a misnomer as SP has gone back to its roots. There are 24 films to date, how many are actually top tier.

The reviews aren’t that bad it’s just that we seem to fixate and magnify the bad and forget that it’s only a fucking film, it hasn’t bombed, is raking in the money but for some reason Bond now needs to win the critics approval to warrant any sort of credibility. What ever happened to going to the movies just to watch a film.

When people get off their soap boxes, I think they will see it for what it is a 2.5Hrs Bond film and not War and Peace.

Spectre: James Bond mints money at the Indian box office

It seems the ultimate MI 6 agent James Bond has got a solid fan base in Indians. The latest Bond flick Spectre has opened to packed houses in India. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Spectre has garnered more than Rs 15 crore in first two days of its business.

Spectre took a token hit from The Hunger Games this weekend, as the Daniel Craig spy sequel earned $4.28 million on its third Friday, down 57% from last Friday for a new $143m cume. But the film is still looking at a $14.6m third weekend which would put the 007 film at around $154m after 17 days, or within striking distance of the $167/$168m cumes of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

Worldwide, however, is a different story, with Sony projecting a $670 million worldwide cume by tomorrow, which easily tops the $586m cume of Quantum of Solace and the $599m cume of Casino Royale leaving only the $1.1 billion cume of Skyfall left to topple. Spectre may or may not get there, but it’s going to get a lot closer I would have cautiously guestimated.

Will they 'factor in' Blu Ray / DVD sales for the movie's total overall financial takings? If so, surely they can get to over 1 billion again. There are lots of people who prefer to watch movies at home especially if those people are lucky enough to have BIG TV's.
