From the Playbill interview:
What was one of your highlights from working on this production?
TS: I had this fear of walking into the room and seeing Daniel Craig/James Bond sitting with two bodyguards and I was supposed to say: â€This is how you fight,†and be laughed out of the room. It was a great relief to find that he is a wonderfully welcoming, lovely, pleasant, funny, down-to-earth guy. In rehearsal he’s just another actor in the room; he’s very mischievous with a wicked sense of humor.

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Daniel Craig, who is not associated with a bad guy by his role as a Bond, plays his Iago as a funny, sometimes frivolous comrade, who is a good friend with everyone and always has an encouraging word for everyone. His Iago has little to do with the gloomy and elegant martial arts aesthetic of his 007 appearances. He is always dressed in a nearly private t-shirt and jogging trousers, loose and comfortable like any other soldier of the ensemble. And one likes this Iago, as he forges his plans before and with the audience. Again and again he grins into the ranks when his naive victims run into the trap.
And Daniel Craig as the motor of the evening seduces his audience with a lot of charm and great stage presence, before he shows him the grim revenge of his revenge. One may hope that Othello will not be Daniel Craig's last Shakespeare.

I guess some links to previous reviews can be posted in the Stage Work thread too.
Fell free to copy some of the posts there
On Tuesday evening BBC Radio 4's programme 'Front Row' featured an item on NYTW's production of 'Othello', with an enthusiastic report from David Rooney, chief theatre critic of the Hollywood Reporter. The item starts with an excerpt of an interview with Daniel from last year, where he talks about the play and the prospect of working with Sam Gold. It's on BBC iPlayer, starting at about 9 minutes 35 seconds.
