I thought somethng similar when I did it.
I thought the smiling one is "You want to do what to me?" and the leaning forward one is "Well come on then, if you're up for it".

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..
