The Dry Spell

Post by Germangirl »

Its obvious, we are in some really dry spell, which is surprising given the fact, that he is shooting a big budget movie. We had "no news" times before, but had still enough material and games, we could entertain ourselves with. Not so this time. All pics have been found, all possible games (its seems) have been played. So - we wait and while we do that, I thought, its a good time to reflect on how we remember our time in the DTD forum and how it all started for us.

It took me a couple of weeks to find DTD. I was still even more a comp novice, then I am now and didn´t have an easy time to figure it all out - that unknown world of cyber space. When I finally got here, I lurked for most of the first weeks und gathered information about this man, that fascinated me so much and of whom I did know so little.
But at one point, I felt the need to say something about a topic and took the plunge. Having trouble uploading an avatar was a good thing, because like this, I "met" Anglo and Dunda, who helped me. Once in, there was no getting away from it anymore. It took my eves and watching TV sorta disappeared almost completely. Who needed TV, when you could have a forum full of crazy gals drooling over a lovely man?

It was such a fun time - really, I can´t remember having laughed so hard and so often as in those times in 07 and 08. There was still so much to do - so much to invend and we did it all.
Duck Story! OMG - still my all time favourite. It had me on the floor laughing.

There were ups and down in DC´s career and we went with that. We hoped for him and we were happy with him and sometimes sad, because something didn´t turn out well enough. But such is life - his and ours. All the same.

People came and left again but many sticked to it to this point. We formed a great community, that has its ups and down, too, but still - we are here and enjoy being together.
I know for sure, that this board has been a helpful friend for more then one in times of trouble and sadness or a good distracting point when having an overload of work. This alone needs to be cherished, I think.

I hope for it to continue, despite not being given a lot to do at the moment. It will change again - hopefully soon with pics, vids and good news from the DC front.

Cheers to all of you!

Love
GG

It's like a literal dry spell, you long for rain, and when it does come, you appreciate it more than ever.

So well said, GG - I think you have hit the mark with your thoughts :D

Many big movie stars have their "dry spells" and it's normal for any one of them to have a gap of years from one film to the next. I think we feel it more because we love Daniel so much and are eager to have him back. He makes us feel good doesn't he?!

I found DtD after fiddling about on google looking for news in the wake of the 'Casino Royale' phenomenon. I stumbled across a link by sheer happen-stance and didn't hesitate to register. Unfortunately, I had to wait a further 2 weeks before I actually got to log on for the first time. Stupidly, I was waiting for an email to confirm my registration had been accepted. Such an email had not come when I thought I would try and log on 'just in case'... BINGO!! I was in and haven't looked back since. :D

I can cope with the Dry Spells as long as I know that Daniel will return soon enough. It might be lucky for us that he's a workaholic and seems to be keen to make more movies in a steady stream. There's no pattern to when these films come out, and after the dry of the desert, comes the oasis in the form of a spate of new films. 2011 will be a big year for us AND Daniel I'll wager! In the meantime, what choice do I have but to play his back catalogue again... and again... and again... and again...

What a good idea, GG, to pass this dry spell time.
Some of you are loyal Daniel Craig fans from waaaay back, "Geordie" time. Unfortunately I didn't find him until Casino Royale, but have since viewed most of his work and even played a small part (I think) in making one or his works available to DtD. I can't remember when I found DtD, but think of the people here almost as a family; a family whose members support each other, and not just in their DC fandom. I think DtD people work on communicating successfully, and caring for relationships among us, and trying to be positive and supportive and accepting of each other. Like a successful family does. While, also, having a good time, laughing, giggling, dreaming.

I lurked for about a month before I posted . CR was the one that brought me to the forum and this was my first forum and only one Ispend much time on . I post a few times on IMDB or Oprah.com . I remember being in stiches over wellies, condoms in a can, ( go check m early march 07 posts ) and assless chaps ( some of us have dreamed of him as a cowboy for awhile ) I was kind of sad over a job ( I hated) loss and this place cheered me up and gave me something to do . I also found out that I had seen a lot of DC before I knew who he was . I saw the Indy Chronicals , Zorro , Sharpe , Elizabeth , RTP and Tomb Raider .

Its good to be a regular, but having a cyber space home, that feels like "home" and a place, you can go whenever you feel like it - sure is a good thing to have. If this serves a bit like that - we all did a good job - may it continue.

I have been obsessed with Daniel Craig since Casino Royale, just never bothered to join a forum. And considering the amount of posts this forum has from quite a small userbase is astounding. I have always been a HUGE forums person but the "star of the forum" had like 3000 posts!

Now there are people with 17000????

Wow! I really wish I could have been a part of this forum for longer, but oh well, it doesnt really seem like the forum is dying
