I know it's a cliche, but I think Mark Strong is an ideal Bond villain...
1. He and Daniel are already very close friends.
2. He was a great 'baddie' as Lord Blackwood in the first Sherlock Holmes movie.
Tom Hardy is a good actor but he is NOT as good as Daniel and I still won't see another Bond movie if he replaces Daniel some time in the future...

--- With a career that includes Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo and Coriolanus, Logan is one the most sought-after screenwriters in Hollywood.
Unsurprisingly, he is thrilled by the critical and box office success of Skyfall. "I'm really proud of the movie. I love Skyfall and I love Bond and that's why I'm doing the next two. I've done a lot of big movies but I've never done one where everyone cared so much."
And he deflects enquiries about the progress of Bonds 24 and 25 with practised ease.
"It's coming together very well, I'm very pleased with where it is. [Producer] Barbara Broccoli once said when you work on a Bond movie it's like you belong to MI6.
"I thought she was joking but I quickly realised when I had to shred drafts that it really is."
Even with two more Bond films on his agenda, Logan still sees himself as first and foremost a playwright. ---

MGM Will Have To Disclose Additional Info Following 2012 Film Successes
By DAVID LIEBERMAN, Executive Editor | Tuesday March 19, 2013 @ 7:06pm EDTTags: MGM, MGM Finance
Execs at privately held MGM won’t be able to play their cards so close to the vest after the James Bond film Skyfall and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey helped to push company revenues for 2012 past $1B. (It ended up with $1.38B). That’s an SEC threshold that will require MGM to publicly disclose registration information it now can keep confidential, CEO Gary Barber told investors in a conference call. Might this make MGM more likely to go public, something it said last year that it’s considering? Barber punted: “We’re coming off of a banner year” which “gives us great options for the future…We look forward to exploring all of those options. Beyond that I cannot comment further.” The CEO also had little to add about Skyfall director Sam Mendes’ decision not to take on the next Bond film. “He decided to pursue other interests at this time,” Barber said, promising to announce a new director “soon.” The screenplay is being developed now and while there’s no timetable the CEO hopes it will be released within three years. With Skyfall and Hobbit working their way through the distribution pipeline, and other films coming including The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, MGM forecasts that this year’s revenue and cash flow will be close to last year’s. That “would be remarkable,” CFO Dene Stratton says.
They are not going to give out a reliable time frame just now. So within 3 years means everything between 2014 and 15 IMO. They just play it safe and I also believe rather 14 then later.
Hopeful also sounds the directors name SOON.

The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

..and this is what already hits the papers. So typical..
Next James Bond film not expected for another three years
MGM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Barber took part in a conference call yesterday revealing that the studio is expecting the twenty-fourth installment in the James Bond film franchise is expected to hit theaters within three years. The executive also stated that they have started the search for a new director due to Sam Mendes departing after Skyfall.
Wrong headline, right quote inside the article.

Any takers?
Editors from media outlets around the world flew in to Monaco yesterday for the launch of the new 007 fragrance, Ocean Royale. The event, held at the exclusive Chateau Eza high in the hills above the principality was hosted by Caterina Murino who played Solange in CASINO ROYALE and fragrance expert Will Andrews. Ocean Royale "has an invigorating freshness with an underpinning of masculine woods," said Andrews. "It is the essence of Bond's masculine side".
Caterina Murino talked of her time as a Bond actress and the effect it had on her life: "It gave me the opportunity to discover the world," she said. "I was in Bond for two minutes and it completely changed my life."
Ocean Royale is currently available exclusively at Harrods

^^ Yes... Well, the list is good and some of the pics are good, but some of the text is embarrassingly bad, made me at times. Nevertheless, I want to watch the movies anyway. Not that it takes much, mind. A couple of days ago I saw a totally unconnected pic of people at a poker table, and that made me want to watch CR. But you see I've been holding myself back for some time now. I've now read the novel Casino Royale, and a book of academic essays called Revisioning 007 - James Bond and Casino Royale (about the movie). Just finished the latter last night. Now I finally have my own permission to watch the movie again. And then I can watch QOS after that. Or do I have to read the short story first? Maybe. Maybe not. We'll see.

Agree on - that the titles are good, but the text really is bad and written in a childlike way somehow.
Must admit, I never read any of the novels, but might finally do it to understand, what they are always talking about. Is CR your first and only novel?
