with you both.
But I have to admit I am fascinated when I watch certain scenes and I see how much he is able to transmit without moving one muscle of his face - irony, bitterness, fury, amusement...To name just a few: in CR the scene when M asks him if he is ever going to deposit the money (that moment when he says "that's a shame...." I have the clear feeling of a door that shuts forever), in QoS the moment when during the enquiry Mr White tells him "if Vesper hadn't killed herself, we would have had you too and in SF the random word associations moment and the conversation with Severine in the casino.

I couldn't agree more! That is why, when I read posts/articles/blogs that criticise hime saying that he has only one expression throughout the movie, I feel puzzled. And furious. I can't understand how people don't see what we (and John Logan for that matter ) see.SmittenDramaKitten wrote:The ability to convey emotions without much alteration to his facial expression is one of Daniels greatest talents as an actor. I believe it is the mark of an exceptionally skilled actor to have that gift. Other actors can do this to some extent but not to as significant a degree as Daniel...
CockH I haven't seen that movie, I am curious now; I only know B Cumberbatch as Sherlock and I love him in that part. I have a friend who adores him and she cannot understand why I like DC. Oh well...
Edit to say that in my previous post I only gave Bond examples since we are on a Bond thread

it was a TV mini-series, based on a classic novel. Possibly BBC, but I'm not sure. Set during the First World War, about a British officer of the upper classes whose wife didn't understand him. He falls in love with a suffragette but his sense of honour won't allow him to act upon his desires even though his feelings are returned and his wife is a complete nightmare, behaving very badly to get his attention.purple wrote:

I loved it and would heartily recommend it if you ever get a chance to see it.
Yes, I know this movie and the main character reminded me somehow of Guy Crouchback. I know they are two different stories, but from the psychological point of view Christopher and Guy were much alike, I'd say. And there are certain similarities in the plots as well.CockHargreaves wrote:it was a TV mini-series, based on a classic novel. Possibly BBC, but I'm not sure. But Guy is so much more lovable.

Yes, there are definite similarities. In fact, DC could have played the role perfectly.Alina wrote:because they ARE similar You'll see for yourself.purple wrote:Oh this sounds very interesting, I love BBC mini-series Thank you I will look for it. You know Alina my first thought when I read CockH's post was "Guy Crouchback!"

Benedict was phenomenal in it. Loved the series. Rebecca Hall did a magnificent job too. Can only agree on the watching recommendation.CockHargreaves wrote:it was a TV mini-series, based on a classic novel. Possibly BBC, but I'm not sure.
