Love that Bond in Bond Street pic, too. Yes white and black is flattering, grey is not.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

SmittenDramaKitten wrote: And Gemma Arterton in QOS? Yes, quite a superficial character. She can't have had more than a dozen lines. It isn't possible to cultivate a meaningful character with so few scenes and lines. GA was OK for it though. Does anyone know that her full character name was "Strawberry Fields"???! Remember that scene at the party where Bond asks for her name and she says "Just Fields" as if she is embarrassed about it.
Yes, I knew that her full name was Strawberry Fields and I have always found it very cute and charming :) Definitely much better than Holly Goodhead or Stephanie Broadchest
I agree with SDK, purple and others that Gemma's character was treated very superficially in the movie. It's true she's quite artificially embedded in the plot, I mean she has no history, no roots and the main reason she's in it is that Bond needed a girl to bang
However, it's not Gemma's fault and I don't find her irritating at all, as I said before I find her quite likeable and I really felt for her when I saw how she died.

As far as Daniel's hair is concerned, I liked it very much in Layer cake, CR, FOAF, Dragon tattoo or QOS (especially the untidy version), but the SF hair really worked for me. Made him look truly intimidating, tough and manly. But I have a feeling that I'm reapeting the same stuff I've already said before several times, sorry about that :)

Hey Alina good to see you are back from work - hope it wasn't a very hard day.

I also think Strawberry Fields was a better name than Holly Goodhead or the infamous Pussy Galore  Silly, but sort of sweet.

I think you put it very well Alina when you explain what was wrong the her part. I know Bond doesn't get involved with women, but there should be some developments and motivations taking them to bed. I could totally get the point with any of the other girls (Solange had been publicly humiliated by her husband and anyway it did not seem a happy marriage so she needed some comfort; the interaction with Severine is amazing, their conversation at the casino must be among my favourite scenes, along with I'm the money one, you feel the tension building, you feel that the girl fancies him; the bantering with Ms Moneypenny is amusing and the close shave scene is incredibly sensual). But Miss Fields and the whole stationery business? Where did that come from?

OK I will stop now, I think I made my point.

As for the hair, anything will do for me as long as it is short.

Thanks, purple, work was ok, but now I feel a bit tired, maybe a glass of someting stronger than tea will help
Miss Fields and the stationery business came from Bond's wanting to have sex and unwind a bit - she naturally obliged and probably fell in love, the whole story (unfortunately :) )
I agree with all your points about the other girls - they were defintely much more refined as characters.

As for the hair, anything will do for me as long as it's Daniel's hair
To be honest I adore him no matter what his hair is like. When I watched all those Betrayal stage door vids I found him adorable and sexy, his personality and charm go a long way and make up for all hair or clothes imperfections :)
But I prefer it short, that's for sure.

I am not a tea person, unless I am ill. Red wine, vermouth or scotch will do for me :D

Going back to the topic - yes I understand Mr Bond's needs but pu-lease build it up a bit...

Treat your self with smth nice :) I think I will watch another part of Parade's End - I will let you and CockH know what I think in the end. But somehow I have the feeling that Guy Crouchback is more likeable... :brood:

Yes, Guy Crouchback is adorable, lovable, cute and soooo righteous :) I love him to the bone. Cumberbatch doesn't have it, in my book at least.

THIS!!!! YES!!!!! I agree with you 110% Alina!!!!! :D

Daniel as Guy Crouchback is ONE SEXY MAN!!!!!!

I love that he is so elegant. I love the way he carries himself and the way he speaks and moves. I love the apparent shyness of the character. Only Daniel could have played him that way. To illustrate how sexy I think he is, I was thinking about scenes from SoH when I was in the dentists chair the other day.....

You and Dunda have never changed your avis, have you?

Regarding hair, I'm much more forgiving than I am with his body. He loses a lot of appeal when he's thin. Still good looking, but omg, from Layer Cake body to CR :thud: Except for the deconstruct/construct period with Sats and Rachel, when C&A was filmed, he's looked amazing.

That photo always reminds me of an American, turn-of-the-century criminal' mug shot. Bonnie and Clyde, a rum runner, someone other than DC  .

I'm in London, and yesterday's Times has a two-page spread titled, "Darling, you were wonderful! You too! The top 20 power couples in the arts" D&R came in at #3. There's a big pic of them, the only big pic on the spread. It's the Betrayal one with R behind D and her arms wrapped around his neck and chest.
#1 - Gregory Doran and Sir Anthony Sher
#2 -Anya Linden and Lord Sainsbury
#4 - Helen McCrory and Damian Lewis
#5 - GwynnethP. and Chris Martin

Under D&R, it says:
She is Oscar-winning actress
He is Bond, James Bond
They say "We're separate entities professionally and we're happy to stay separate entities. We're not a professional couple".

I'll try to take a pic. Aargh...so little time.

Hi sf, I posted this on Friday, I tried to get a picture with my phone but it wasn't good enough to post. Did you notice that the article was by the paper's theatre critic, Dominic Maxwell, who gave a good review of 'Betrayal'. I think he may be an admirer of Daniel and Rachel.
Hope your trip to the UK goes well.

Thanks Sylvia - many of these I don't know, but it seem to be an illustrious group and being at 3 is an honour.
