Empire's Cowboys And Aliens Cover!
Daniel Craig steps out of the shadows

It's that time again, the time to unveil Empire's latest cover. And this month's is a doozy of a look at Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, starring Daniel Craig front-and-centre as the amnesiac outlaw who might just hold the key to defeating an inconvenient extra-terrestrial invasion of the Old West.

Also inside this month, keeping on with the Old West theme, we reunited the Three Amigos, getting Martin Short, Chevy Chase and Steve Martin together for what proved to be one of the greatest photoshoots of all time (if we do say so ourselves). Then there's a first look at Fright Night, an in-depth exploration of A Game of Thrones and the weird, weird story of Mel Gibson and The Beaver.

Cowboys & Aliens is out on August 19; the new issue of Empire is out on April 28. Get it while it's hot.

Harrison Ford talks Cowboys & Aliens

Harrison Ford, yes him of Han Solo and Indiana Jones fame, has spoken out about sci-fi western Cowboys & Aliens, and a new image of Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde has landed online.

Jon Favreau’s high concept mash-up is being released at the height of summer blockbuster season, so it makes sense that the promotion for the film is starting to gear up a notch.

Firstly, MTV has revealed a new ‘preview’ image (above) of Daniel Craig and his shiny wrist gadget, with the lovely (and barely visible) Olivia Wilde standing behind him.

Plus, in a conversation with the L.A. Times, legendary actor (and professional grumpus) Harrison Ford talks about his experience making the film, and how great it is to work with Favreau:

“It’s been really gratifying, I have to say,” Ford said. “A lot of that is because of Jon, who has surprised me with his spirit and his insight, and I only say that I was surprised because I knew him better as an actor than as a filmmaker.

"He’s a very clever actor but as a director he’s shown that he can solve the problems that come up every day and not become mechanical.”

When talking about the look and feel of Cowboys & Aliens, Ford contrasts the film with other summer blockbusters, saying:

“I think what a lot of action movies lose these days, especially the ones that deal with fantasy, is you stop caring at some point because you’ve lost human scale."

He went on to add: “With the CGI, suddenly there’s a thousand enemies instead of six – the army goes off into the horizon. You don’t need that. The audience loses its relationship with the threat on the screen.

"That’s something that’s consistently happening and it makes these movies like video games and that’s a soulless enterprise. It’s all kinetics without emotion. I don’t have time for that.”

Well said, that man.

Cowboys & Aliens is released on July 29 in the US, and on August 12 in the UK.

Oh really - what to believe? Would be great, though...but wouldn't you say, the official side should know better?
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

Normally yes, but sometimes even the official sites are erroneous.

But still either one can be wrong and we cannot be sure, right? Maybe one of our Brits could call the Odeon and ask. Maybe they already have the dates.

Daniel Craig's Agony On Cowboys Set

Daniel Craig has revealed playing a cowboy in new movie 'Cowboys & Aliens' left him with a severe case of saddle soreness.

Daniel Craig was in agony after filming horse riding scenes for new film 'Cowboys & Aliens'.

The British actor and Harrison Ford star as two gunslingers facing down an alien invasion in Jon Favreau's new movie and although Daniel wanted to keep his horse Ringo after filming wrapped, he admitted he got a little saddle soreness during filming.

He said: "I loved that horse. I wanted to take him home myself but I had nowhere to put him, You get over the saddle soreness thankfully. I mean, after a week the scabs heal over. You think I'm f***ing joking? Why do you think cowboys walk so f***ing funny?"

While nice guy Harrison eventually took the horse to live on his Wyoming farm, he was so convincing as a bad guy on set, co-star Adam Beach thought he was an "asshole".

He explained: "Harrison's getting to be that b*****d that he hasn't got to be in a film before. Even us actors are surprised because when he gets caught up in the moment and they say 'Cut', if he's still in character that bastard mentality is coming up to me and I'm like 'You're an asshole'. He's still working you know but he's so intense.
