Oh wow, SF! Have you stopped grinning yet? It must have been thrilling to be there, to speak to him, to shake his hand (did you put in a Tony-winning performance to keep your cool at that point?!) and to observe them at close quarters as they enjoyed their success.

I'm delighted that so many of the reviews are positive, especially the comments about DC's performance... And of course disappointed that I'll never get to see this myself. But I'm glad for those on here who can get to see our hero doing what he does best before the run ends.

Which brings me to a question: I wonder what he prefers - stage acting or performing in movies? Does anyone know if he has ever commented on this? I know Anthony Hopkins said he came to hate theatre work because he found it exhausting and repetitive after many years of it. He found filming much easier. I've been wondering lately which DC likes best. I imagine the immediacy of the theatre is a huge high - but in a way it is more high pressure... Pros and cons to each way of working, I suppose...

The main thing is he and Rachel can go home secure in the knowledge that their work is being very well received and appreciated by so many of the lucky few who can get to see it. Wonderful Broadway debuts for RW and RS; and a chance for DC to remind audiences how talented he is. Wonderful. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :happyrunning: :happyrunning: :happyrunning: :happyrunning: :cheers1: :cheers1: :cheers1: :cheers1:

Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz sizzle on Broadway in 'Betrayal'

Let's just say that Daniel Craig and his real-life wife, Rachel Weisz, are two of the sexiest people I've ever seen in a lifetime of watching the stage. She is a rare beauty, disturbed, lips trembling, eyes blossoming and in her sex scene with actor Rafe Spall, convincing. Mr. Spall received a special dispensation from Actors' Equity to come play his role in New York and he is just great.

But Daniel Craig is overwhelming on stage, more so than he is as James Bond onscreen. I saw this charismatic guy with Hugh Jackman in "A Steady Rain" some seasons ago. That was terrific, but he managed to damp himself down for the part. Here, he seems magnified, which makes his dubious role more interesting. I'll say again, he is surely one of the sexiest actors I've ever seen live and in person and, honey, I've seen a lot of them in 50 years of fandom.

And here he is playing against himself, for in real life I’m told he is modest and down-to-earth.

This seems genuine appreciation from people, who know a bit of theater. If this goes on, i am packing...

But one thing seems clear to me, what we came to fear a bit, that Rafe would somrhow outshine him, didnt happen. In the end, Daniel has more praise. Some dont even mention him especially.

I know you know where the reviews are.
Its just that I thought more people would have commented on them by now or that maybe they don't know that they are there.

I think, sadly, we bave maybe come to a point, where people DO read, (and i know, they do), but dont comment. Of course, you can not and dont want to push anybody towards posting, but this makes it increasingly difficult to keep up the motivation. Not towards Daniel but towards the forum. I would like to offer the thought of maybe honoring Sylvias and others work with a comment. Doesnt take long. If we want to maintain this side, a bit effort is necessary from all the "active"members. Not much, just SOME input once in a while, so that we know, we are not totally just talking to ourselves. Its, of course, ok to just read, but a bit of feedback would be welcome. like some sort of encouragement. Mi.d you, nobody is expecting the old times...

Nappy times

The glamour of opening on Broadway in Mike Nichols’s production of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal, alongside Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, would not appear to have gone to Rafe Spall’s head.Timothy Spall’s affable 30-year-old son wearily concedes that his toddlers by his wife Elize du Toit – Lena, two, and Rex, who celebrates his first birthday next month – simply aren’t having any of it. “One minute, you’re watching daytime television and playing with your kids, and the next, you’re there with Mike and Rachel and Daniel ... and then you go home and you’ve got to change shitty nappies, which is a very grounding thing.”

Stunning performance from @rafespall in Betrayal on Broadway. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz were also outstanding. Thanks @mikenichols

A Steamy Tale Steams Up the Ticket Market
Broadway's 'Betrayal' Does Brisk Business at Box Office and Online

"Betrayal," starring Daniel Craig as a philandering literary agent, is doing brisk business at the box office—and even better on StubHub.

Tickets for the Harold Pinter play are selling at the box office for as much as $499 for the best seats in the house around Christmas, the highest price for a play ticket since "Death of a Salesman," starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. Like "Salesman," "Betrayal" is produced by Scott Rudin and directed by Mike Nichols.

On the secondary market, however, prices are considerably higher. StubHub spokeswoman Shannon Barbara said a buyer who lives in Texas paid $4,240 for two orchestra center seats for "Betrayal." By comparison, she said, a buyer in 2012 spent $900 for a seat at "Salesman." Most "Betrayal" tickets are going for $700 or less on the secondary market.

A steamy tale about a love triangle between three literary types in London in the 1970s, "Betrayal" has more going for it than James Bond. Mr. Craig's co-star is Rachel Weisz, an Oscar winner who is his real-life wife, and the production, which runs only to Jan. 5, is nearly sold out.

While tickets are sporadically available at Telecharge and other mainstream outlets, the safe bet is in "Betrayal's" last two weeks, in which premium seats, for $399 to $499, are still available, along with some $100 seats in the back of the theater.

Gosh. Some people are making a fortune out of this play, selling their tickets on. It's a shame, the only people who benefit from this are the touts. Not the theatre, not the actors, not the audience who end up paying over the odds. Sheer greed and opportunism, making money out of other people's hard work. :x

Craig plays the party pooper

Daniel Craig kept the media at bay at Sunday night’s opening of “Betrayal” at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
“There was no red carpet, and no interviews and no press at the party at the Bowery Hotel,” one insider told me. “Daniel Craig’s decision.”
Co-starring Craig and his wife, Rachel Weisz, and with Mike Nichols directing, the revival of the Harold Pinter play drew Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, Julia Roberts, Julie Andrews, Candice Bergen, Bobby Cannavale and Ian McKellen.
Such star power had security on high alert. When a person of indeterminate gender approached Craig at the Bowery, three security guys jumped in and strongly escorted the fan away as if he or she were a suspicious Barneys shopper.
Said my source, “Not cool at a Broadway opening.”

How the media hate it when he won't play their games! He is all about the work, not the celebrity circus.
