it looks really nice - seems to be a good place for a Bond-party! I'd found two pics while filming in Panama and put them to the photo-section

Daniel Craig and Gemma Arterton film scenes for the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace in Panama City on Friday.

Looks like Daniel was ready to push one of the production assistants out of his way!

It’s also been recently reported that Amy Winehouse will pen and sing the new James Bond theme song, according to the UK’s The Sun. But only if Amy stays off drugs the next two months!

A source says: “That’s when the Bond people make a final decision on who sings the theme. If Amy is clean then, it’s hers.”

Quantum of Solace opens in theaters nationwide on Nov. 7.

Craig reportedly arrived in the country on 4 February and has been in preparations for shooting scenes at the decommissioned US Howard Air Force Base (turned over to Panama in 2000), located on the west side of the Panama Canal.

Panama’s El Casco Antiguo (Old Quarters)
A report at DIAaDIA Online points out that Panama shooting officially began for Quantum of Solace on 7 February, while the 11th of this month will see the Bond production moving to the National Institute of Culture building, which is being transformed into the ‘Andean Grand Hotel.’ Featuring refurbished halls and stairs, the building will serve as the location for one of the main action sequences in the film where, according to local press, an assassination attempt is made on 007 while he is in one of the elevators.
Filming at the National Institute of Culture building is expected to go on until 13 February, with shooting planned to take place at a few other sites in the area, including the former colonial social club.
Other filming sites for Quantum of Solace include the Patio Rochet’ between 6:00pm and 6:00am on 14 and 15 February (as pointed out by CommanderBond.net earlier this month). A note published by the local press was signed by James Grant, the location manager in Panama, who apologised in advance for the ‘degree of disturbance’ that the shooting will likely cause.
Roads that will be closed due to filming include Calle 16 Oeste (located alongside the National Bank) in Santa Ana and 18 Sta. Ana. Filming is expected to be concluded by the 21st of the month.

As earlier reported by CBn, Panama was assumed to be doubling for another country in the film, and while the 007 producers wouldn’t comment further on exactly which one, local officials seemed fairly convinced it was Bolivia.
Now, further confirmation of this location detail has been provided at the Los Cuatro Tulipanes blog, where a James Bond fan notes of the current Bond production at the Old Town (also known as El Casco Antiguo and El Casco Viejo): Here's a quick translation I've knocked together of the above article:

In the best style of the paparazzi, DIAaDIA were given the task of going in search of locations from ‘Quantum of Solace’, the new James Bond movie, which is being filmed in Panama, and aspects of the life of the protagonist Daniel Craig.

Daniel has been preparing for shooting scenes at the old Howard Air Force Base, and officially began these yesterday.

Another part of filming will be centrally focussed upon the Casco Viejo [Old Town] and the district of Santa Ana. One of the buildings that will be used is the headquarters of the National Institute of Culture (INAC), which is being fully refurbished to serve as a hotel (Andean Grand Hotel) as evidenced by the signs placed. It’s important to note that the INAC will not be working on Monday, as filming will be taking place that day.

Due to the filming, that will last until 21 February, some roads will also be closed to traffic. For example, Calle 16 Oeste (the street alongside the National Bank), in Santa Ana, will remain closed today. On Saturday, the street 18 Sta. Ana. On 14 and 15 February, Calle Estudiante (National Institute) and Calle Rochet (National Bingo) will be blocked. Access will only be allowed to residents and people who work in the area.

It has not all been work and before they got back into the world of “action and cuts”, there was a formal dinner at the National Theatre, which was attended by main cast, including the one not to miss - Daniel Craig. Similarly, Judi Dench (M), Giancarlo Giannini and director Marc Porter [sic] were in attendance. The Bond girl, Gemma Arterton, was also present at the dinner.

In the evening, some guests arrived in private taxis from Playa Bonita. Others arrived with more style, such as Daniel who arrived in a Prado, and of course not without limousines.

The toast before dinner took place in the foyer of the theatre, on the same stage as where the tables were. The room was decorated as a jungle, including palm trees, although everything was natural. Approximately 40 people attended the exclusive event, before Craig left clutching the hand of his wife Satsuki Mitchell. :?:

Between 11 and 13 February, filming will take place in the INAC building. In days passed this was the old Union Club.

We convince ourselves that we know the other person well, but do we really know anything important about anyone.
