What violence really? But yeah, I read the article.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

I read the article too, and they received "40 complaints". I think of all the horror films that had a similar rating and wonder huh? Spectre received complaints in comparison?

Oh well, at least it keeps the film in the news. :)

It probably receives the most complaints because it's the film that parents are most likely to take their young children to see over here. It has that kind of culture of being a "family event" in this country.

That's how I got into it. My parents used to plop me in front of the TV on Sunday afternoons to watch Roger Moore and it always had me wide eyed and fixated. Are they all suitable for young kids? Probably not... But they would play the films in the middle of the day. This is probably why Spectre has so many complaints.

I believe in one of the junket interviews they asked Daniel about this specifically.. What scenes he wouldn't let his kids watch because the likelihood is that kids will go to see the film.. He mentioned the torture scene, but apologies, I don't have the link to hand.

I think most adults would have to turn away during the torture scenes. I sure did.

I too remember watching the Bond films on TV when I was younger. Most people familiar with the Bond franchise realize that there might be some violence, gun shooting, fights in these films? I wouldn't take kids to see these films, but that's me.

I think ITV are partially to blame. They cut out the vast majority of the overly violent bits so they can show them in the day time here. Makes them look far more PG friendly than what they really are. When a new one comes around the assumption is they're probably OK because of the 12A certificate.

The new films are a lot darker than old films... But kids are watching them regardless, it seems. Casino Royale has a really soft age certification rating... I wouldn't take a young kid to see them but saw a lot of that going on anyway in films recently... Batman V Superman comes to mind which had some kids hysterically crying near the end of the film...

The same with some animated films - they have violence. I look back when I was a kid, I don't think I've been able to sit through the Disney film Bambi ever again. Some of the superhero or Marvel films have extreme violence but perhaps because it's based on a comic book or a superhero - therefore, it's okay for kids to see?

I did not know that about the ITV cutting bits of the Bond films to show them on TV.

They cut out a bunch of Skyfall and the end of Licence to Kill makes no sense when you watch it on ITV.

They even cut out stuff from Crocodile Dundee lol.

Interesting what a television broadcaster will cut out from a film.

I'm still upset that there were scenes in Spectre's preview trailers that were not in the final film. :)

I still wonder what the point was of the OHMSS theme in the trailer if they weren't going to go that route. But we'll see in Bond 25... or I'm assuming a lot less of you will if Daniel doesn't feature :D.

Not that I blame you. Haha.

I'll probably go see the next Bond film if DC is not in it, maybe?

But I'll see it several times and buy a copy IF HE IS IN IT - whatever the violence ratings.

I'll end up seeing it, probably even if it does contain the dreaded Hiddles, but not with the same enthusiasm or on opening night. I may even see it twice if it ends up as good as Casino Royale (hint: my bet is it will not).

I didn't 'know' Daniel until Bond and I was a die hard Brosnan fan. I was like "why did they cast a blond dude". In the past I'd seen The Trench and stuff but never made the connection.

Someone told me about the water scene though and my lil 20 year old self went "ok, yeah, sure I'll go see it."

Went with my mum. We went twice. Probably for the water scene lol.

Been a DC fan ever since and it will remain :D.

I suspect there are quite a few members here who it was the same for. I love the golden oldies who remember him beyond that though lol.
