Someone is trying to raise a little hell here..

Post by Germangirl »

Again from commanderbond.net.

I was listening to Sarah Kennedy on BBC Radio 2 this morning as she was reviewing the morning papers, specifically the media stuff. She mentioned a piece that said that 'Daniel Craig had left Bond fans shaken and stirred after announcing that he would be retiring after the next film'.
I've had a look on the internet for recent Craig/Bond news stories, and the only things I've come across are:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2001 ... 34,00.html

http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/ar ... nd_1035674

If you read the stories, there is nothing new there, really. My guess is, that he did say something like in the contactmusic article, which is just generell and they did make it up - again to fill their summer hole. It would be just SO besides Dan to break a contract and let people down, that I really don´t even consider a grain of truth in there.
But still, it will be all over the papers by tomorrow. I hate these things to happen...

That is really unfortunate. Just what he needs--more reporters reading into what he says.

All it says is that he stated that "I don’t want to make just spy films,” and “I’ve never made movies for money.” He didn't say ANYTHING about breaking contract, nor does it mean he won't sign on again...it just means he wants to do other movies, big and small budget. And he seems to be doing that already, spectacularly.

I think they are just envious of his perfection and want to undermine it for their personal gain.

Hes only contracted to do three bonds anyway and everyone knows that from the very beginning when he was announced after completing the first bond film.
As you say germangirl something to fill the summer papers but then all things may change with the news of the car bomb in Park Lane. I may have jumped at the bait first time but this time a little wiser..........

I am off to watch The Jacket.......before tea.

Yeah...while I'm not expecting him to do more than the three Bond films, he's still doing 23. He had better, anyways...no! The doubt from the article is being instilled in my brain! Help!

I thought he was contracted to do 2 Bond films. With an option to do a third?

With the kind of money he's making for the franchise, I don't believe that they would let him go so easily. I'm sure that they will up the ante for 22 and 23 when that happens. I still think that Daniel wants to give it his all and is only interested insofar as the script sculpts the story and character well. It would be fabulous to see him complete a trilogy of Bond films that will last the test of time and provide him pocket change for the rest of his career.

I personally wouldn't want him to do more than three. He's much too talented for that. His amazing skills need to be displayed in other venues and I look forward to many in the future. :D

i had read he signed a 3 movie/ $15 million US

they are pretty much finished with Fleming's novels

there are smaller side stories that have bond doing none bond stuff - dinner party and a background character

they could start using the newer novels

i hope they don't remake the older bond movies

When I woke up this morning, Google Alerts had flooded my inbox with these "headlines". Honestly, so many people (not y'all) are getting their panties in a bunch just b/c Daniel said he doesn't want to do spy movies for the rest of his career.

People are actually shocked by this? It's been public knowledge (although I use the term loosely) that Daniel was contracted to do 3 Bonds and that 21, 22 and 23 are (supposedly) going to be a continuations of one another. I thought everyone knew Daniel's days as 007 were finite?

I mean, seriously, what actor *does* wants to do only one genre (and one specific genre at that) for the next 30 years? This is made all the more ludicrous when you take into account Daniel's resume to date. He has meticuously built a very varied filmography, no one can label him as any one type of actor. If he was that way *before* Bond, then one can safely assume that he will be that way post-Blond.

But that's just my $.02

AND it would mean, he would need to break his contract. And he would not do that to the people, who made it happen for him. [-(

I am sure though, it will be only the three, which is fine with me, because I really don`t care so much, as what I see him on the big screen, as long as I do see him AND as long as he stays away from that beard and from dark hair. DO YOU HEAR ME, DANIEL?

This is what MI6 says:

Hats off the the tabloid press as once again they have extrapolated a story out of a fairly innocuous quote from a James Bond actor - on an otherwise quiet news day for 007.

The Sun (UK) today claim "Daniel Craig has left fans shaken and stirred by hinting he may quit as Bond after the next film."

The paper quotes Craig as saying "I don’t want to make just spy films. I’ve never made movies for money."

From that they stretched the headline to read that it was only "1 more 007 film for Daniel"

Although Eon Productions gave "no comment" to questions about Craig's length of contract, the 39 year-old actor confirmed during several interviews at the time of Casino Royale's release that he had signed up to make three films. "I've signed up for two more, and then I can get on with my life!" he said last year. An official announcement about Bond 22 also included this figure. Press has separately stated he is getting £8million for the three films.

Far from thinking about 007 #7, producer Michael G. Wilson said in a radio interview recently that "once we establish someone in the role we like to keep going with them, and we do intend to make plenty with Daniel. Oh, but you can never say how many at this stage, but surely a lot more."

So it pretty much sums up what we all have been thinking about this, right?
