I think it's important that he shows that he has his own style and isn't a mere personification of James Bond.
I liked Casino Royal but he can do so much more considering the films he has done and is up to do. I've read some articles about the Golden Compass Press Conference an I've got the impression that the press is a little bit deceived that he isn't appearing in his Bond-style at Cannes.
I don't find him "super scruffy"

This looks like the beard that he wore for the Golden Compass shooting sometime last year and if they are now doing some new stuff in Switzerland, it could well be related to that? I think it was for Lord Asriel's captivity in Svalbard, something about the beard being the symbol of that?Lynda wrote:He probably has the beard for an ongoing movie role and can't shave it off until the film is properly completed.
His beard had the grey bits already in The Mother quite afew years ago. Lovely...

PS Thanks a bunch for all busy bees searching for pics, interviews and posting them - I just wouldn't have had the time do anything myself!
Sorry we took so long, I approved them earlier. Thank you, they are great photos.Anglophile wrote:They do if you're registered. I get medium-sized pictures (for large size they charge a fee). I have uploaded them to a new album in the gallery but it's still awaiting approval. I guess Ashlee and Wendy have their hands full at the moment
It's not only you, Mel DC. It's also my impression. Is it me or does he look really different in these pics? i think he looks younger- even if he does have a grey beard!
I'm always surprised when I see photos of DC. He seems sort of ageless. Sometimes he looks old even in photos made 10 years ago. There are actual photos on which he looks young (in the Cannes photos even with the greying beard.) , but on the other hand there are actual photos on which he looks older than his real age (Oscar photos).
Vesper - Well, I do hope you gave your parents hell for that.

Its my impression, that it is a matter of how he is lighted. Sometimes his face is softened a bit, in others you see every single line. (every one of which I like, but you can see, he`s lived a bit)vesper wrote:It's not only you, Mel DC. But in my experience, people, who look a little older at times, tend to age slower from a certain stage on. So I expect him to look not so much different in 10 years from now.
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..
