Just a funny little note in relation to QOS...

We can probably ALL attest to being able to recite Eva Green's lines word for word from Casino Royale ... but what about QOS?? I do OK with Gemma Arterton's dialogue and some of Judi Dench's but Olga Kurylenko floors me sometimes because of her accent and how fast she speaks. For example, I NEVER get the line "Dominic didn't give you any trouble did he?" said in the car before JB kicks the motorcyclists face off. She says it's so fast I literally can't get the line out quick enough - it cracks me up every time!!

I saw both versions: The German, and the Original one. I think Olga did quite well, at least better than her German voice (the same with Mathieu), but it mostly didn't give anything to me like accents normally do. I also don't remember so many good verses. There were a few, but somehow they wren't as sarcastic as Eva's. Of course I would always prefer her, but I give Olga a chance and say she's quite ok.

`Quantum of Solace` helps German DVD business buck the recession
Quantum Of Solace - 06-08-09

James Bond provided the German sell-through business with a "Quantum of Solace" in the first half, as DVD and Blu-ray sales bucked the recession, jumping 4% to €572 million ($823 million) - writes the Hollywood Reporter.

Total unit sales hit 47 million in the first six months of 2009, compared with 44.7 million in first-half 2008 and a new record for the territory.

Good old DVD continues to reign supreme, accounting for €530 million ($762 million) in sales. But the Blu-ray market is gaining ground, with sales of €41 million ($59 million) in Germany in the first half, compared with €13 million during the same period last year.

The rental business seems to have bottomed out, with revenue of €48.7 million ($70 million) in the first half, on par with last year's figures. Top rental title was Ridley Scott's C.I.A. thriller "Body of Lies.

`Quantum` suit-maker presents his first foray in film at the Venice Film Festival

Bond Style - 12-09-09

Former Gucci designer Tom Ford has presented his first feature film, A Single Man, at the Venice Film Festival. The movie stars Colin Firth and Julianne Moore - reports the BBC.

Until now, Ford's only contact with the film world has been making the suits that James Bond wears. He's one of the world's leading designers in men's fashion, accessories and cosmetics. But what makes Tom Ford think he can direct?

Not only has Ford made A Single Man but he's co-written and produced it too, adapted from the book by Christopher Isherwood.

Pressure or no pressure - still doesn´t explain the often terrible editing, because leaving stuff in or cutting it out, takes the same amount of time. Sorry...
The top notch acting in the Weisz/Craig/Spall 'Betrayal' is emotionally true, often v funny and its beautifully staged with filmic qualities..

I'm with you, GG - am not a fan of the QoS editing

Interested as to what the delay is is for Bond 23 - script development, the need to "get it right this time" (given Forster's "time pressure" comments), DC's availability...or just the need to stagger the films a bit more.
